Prayers up for American football player Damar Hamlin (Buffalo Bills). During last night's game he made a tackle, stood up & immediately fell over backwards. He had gone into cardiac arrest & they worked on him on the field for over 10 minutes. They got his heart started again & he was taken to the hospital where he is sedated & in critical condition. The NFL has postponed the game.
Last I heard he was in critical condition, and now he’s gone. This is such upsetting news. My heart goes out to his family, friends and teammates.
He's been put in a medical coma & is still in critical condition. They've got him on a breathing tube which is never a good sign.
Light a candle please for my buddy Nash (age 6). He's been sick off & on since last summer & was in the hospital for a month in September. The docs thought he had been cured but the issue has come back. They are going to give him the same chemo that I'm on in hopes of blasting his problem into remission. It's an extremely nasty drug & I can barely handle it. I can't even fathom a 6 year old dealing with it. He's a very bright little boy but doesn't really understand what's happening to him. He knows uncle Chuck is getting the same treatment. Of course the family is leaning on me for help & I'm happy to give it. I've given them input on what to expect & what to watch out for. He has to do 2 infusions in a month & then they will reevaluate. He's going to be a very sick little boy for the next month though. I've known Nash since he was a baby & we're pretty tight. Hopefully all goes as planned & he's back to his old self soon.

Chin up, Nash. One good thing about six year olds - they're ability to recover and bounce around is quite spectacular.
He's hanging in there. The drug is hideously expensive, so it has to be preapproved by the insurance company & that process is going on now. Fortunately, they have really good insurance. I'm hoping that they do a counselling session before the first session. The drug can mess with your head. He's been on heavy doses of steroids & has had a few instances of roid rage when he was in the hospital in September. More nasty drugs. Barring that, a sit down with the adults in the house to tell him if he's having any bad thoughts to talk to one of them immediately, no matter when. This stuff has pushed me to the edge a few times but i've got some other issues. It's really a cancer drug but is also used for immune system problems. I'm on my second go round with it. With me they're trying to slow the progression of the damage. With Nash there's a good chance it will put his problem into remission. Fingers crossed! Thank you for asking.

Yes, fingers crossed. I was thinking about that kid today...
You too, hang in there, Chuck.
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
RIP Jeff Beck, age 79. He contracted bacterial meningitis. Jeff totally changed my musical path forever in 1976. Opened for Aerosmith & totally blew them away. It was my 4th concert. 1 of the greatest rock guitar players ever. I'm crushed.

Oh no! I love him too.
Very sad news
