even in the white swan pub where we were watchung it was all the ooooooooo and aaaaaa and arms swaying in the air, atmosphere definitely getting more lively with them golden oldies )
I've never understood why of the three Japanese Whispers singles, this is the one they play the most. I like LGTB and especially Lovecats a lot more
i like the walk but agree that change would be nice, of course also upstairs room, just one kiss, the dream, lament.. love them all! maybe not pop encore friendly enough 😆
The videos from the famous people in the posh seats are the worse part of this as no one looks arsed and just talking over the music.
yes, with so many of us having bleeding hearts and giving the world to have been there!
was waiting in front of venue a while, saw signs about entry strictly only with tickets via app, so left cause felt like an idiot. constantly checking app for the waiting list, hoping for some lst minute miracle but never happened. and of course was gutted when i later heard that some still got in with print outs. would have been nice to actually serve the waiting list but that’s life.
Watching the recording on YouTube and getting all teary-eyed. I absolutely love the new album and I am so happy that I waited until the night of the show to listen to it for the first time. Wow, what an amazing album and what an amazing day it was. It all feels like a beautiful dream.
The Troxy venue may have been selected for excellent acoustics and to optimize video and audio quality so as to prioritise offering a superb, free global live stream.
The largest cameras were mounted just in front of the first-balcony seating area, but didn't interfere with sightlines. The camera on a huge boom ranged above half the front floor area width-wise and nearly the entire area front-to-back. Again without obstructing views.
If I had to guess, I'd say that having a physical audience was icing on the cake. Having a larger venue and larger audience would likely have nixed the streaming.
With a global fan base, which would we rather have for an album-release show: one concert in one city in a more "full service" venue of say 15,000-30,000, but NO live-stream?
Or what the Troxy setting accomplished: a free global live stream to watch in real time, plus for a while afterwards on one's own schedule, broadcast from a great-sounding space with pro camera footage?
I say the latter, even if it was a bit cramped up front and seating started half-way back. Yet even from those seats, all could see facial expressions and hands on instruments (without a Jumbotron).
The problem with the crowding at the front seemed (as I saw it anyway) to be caused by the fact that there is a passage way from near the back of the standing area to some toilets at front stage right as we looked. It seemed to me that some “in the know people”,were using this to bypass the main crowd and get near the front causing a huge bottleneck. I myself saw a guy next to me texting his friend to come through there to meet him! So that meant eventually that the security were only letting people back in from toilets when others went out. Which seemed pretty sensible really.
