Hello!
I'm a bit hesitant to jump in on this since I don't want to just come off as a leech or anything. But I have a request from my mother actually, and I'm trying to help her out in a search. I figured a community dedicated to the band would be the best place to find something like this.
Basically she had this link saved of a recording of a concert she went to but the site is no longer available: www.thesamedeepwaterasyou.com/version1/index.php/component/muscol/C/2-the-cure/139-10-04-1985-portland
Here is the email for context:
"The recording is this: the night I met Johnathon Darnielle was at that Cure concert and the guy standing next to us was secretly recording the show. That is a recording of our very first conversation which was the entire concert. Lol. John sent me the link years ago and I opened up a browser and it was pinned in there. I hope you can find it. That would be tremendous!"
So yeah, the two of them were apparently talking over the entire recording, which added sentimental value when they found the link online later. I'm guessing most other listeners since then don't agree but hey.
I stumbled across a clip of it on so that's something at least, but it seems to abruptly cut off so I'm not sure it's the full thing. After I sent it to her it also sounds like it possibly had some entirely reasonable editing to mask the chatter a bit, which if so isn't exactly ideal. I never heard the original recording personally though.
