Hi, new member here, and longtime Central American Cure fan.
I always wanted to buy the deluxe Rhino CD stuff back when it came out but I was a broke college student during the 00s. Ive only gotten some degree of financial stability and discretionary income until recently, so I thought I'd finally get all those, but new copies are either scarce or way overpriced, for example semi new copies of Disintegration going for 99 dollars or Head On the Door going for 150 (!) dollars.
So far Ive managed to score cutouts of 3IB, Pornography and KMx3, but most of the other ones are ultra scarce or too expensive. Is there like a treasure trove of these out there or will I have to keep checking Discogs/eBay/Amazon obsessively until forever?
Oh and I want the Rhino ones and not the european Universal ones or the newer jewel case represses.
Hello curator & welcome to the forum. If by "treasure trove" you mean downloads of them here, then no. In all honesty you don't want those deluxe things. They have been compressed to within an inch of their lives & sound terrible. Stick with the originals.

I remember reading something about this back when the Disintegration Deluxe Ed came out, which made me temporarily content about only being able to score a Mexican edition of Disintegration instead of shelling out cash for the Deluxe Ed. Wasnt Bob involved in remastering these, though? Oh and by treasure trove I meant if someone had like found a sealed container of these things somewhere, not downloads
Oh and thanks for the tip nausearockpig! I'll check it out
While opinions will vary the Deluxe reissues have their good and bad points.
To begin, the early albums are improved sonically - Seventeen Seconds especially so.
On original cds of The Top, Bananafishbones is mastered at the wrong speed.
Note that some pressings of the Deluxe The Top have the first second of Shake Dog Shake missing.
Japanese Whispers on CD is bad. There doesn't seem to be a good pressing. See the Steve Hoffman forums for opinions about the various editions.
As each Deluxe set includes bonus recordings one can hardly steer you away from those.
The content of the Curiosity cassette is finally presented on CD, various home recordings, rehearsals and studio out-takes included can help a fan understand the development of songs from sketches to their final versions.
Are they essential? Well, no. They are a mixed bag of crude tape recordings and studio material. Some editions present many instrumental demos, others none. Personally, I skip the home recordings, rehearsals and the audience recordings of live performances. Where the individual sees value is their own preference though I have enjoyed some of the bonus content immensely.
As many of the Deluxes have themselves been repressed finding a release at a favourable price point may be quite easy. If you have to own a specific edition, well, that's your prerogative and your dollar.
I see no intrinsic value in owning first editions especially if they are digipaks.
