Heading back down south, our merry musicians travel 320 miles (or 448,000 Trulstorp coffee tables) back into the US to Boston. Yah huh.
Known as Beantown due to it being the world capital of baked beans, Boston quite rightly argued it had a claim (a hosie in local parlance) on the nickname “The Windy City”. However, the US City Nickname Association (USCNA) denied the application before opening all the windows as Bostonolian officials blamed it on the dog.
Boston wasn’t always a city & the locals even refuse to call it one. Originally it was a rock group.
Founded in 1975 by Tom Sholtz, their mega hit More Than A Feeling led to a surge in the popularity of big moustaches in the region. With their signature brand of stadium rock & use of guitar shaped spaceships, Boston grew from strength to strength until eventually, after Brad Delp quit, & the eventual release of 1994’s Walk On, it became the largest city in Massachusetts with a population of over 670,000 people with its own harbour & Dunkin’ Donuts.
This growth inevitably led to discord among the townies who took it out on tea one day, tossing an entire shipment into the harbour. This rubbed the Brits (who owned the place at the time) up the wrong way & was the spark that eventually resulted in the American Revolution where everything changed. Including the spelling of “color”.
Bostonolians are routinely mocked for their accents. Particularly when talking about pahking their cahs. They’ve also cultivated their own language which is still spoken fluently by around 80% of townies & yuppies alike. In fact TV shows have also been made in the native tongue in an attempt to keep the language from dying out.
With their Boston phrase books in hand, mfk , nobos & finalsound head on into town for what we hope is a wicked pissa show. But not before they’ve indulged in clam chowdah for supper & a few Samuel Adams.
Despite Boston’s attempts to camouflage their flag against the sky, we have been able to spot the colours for todays event.
