Today our troubadours arrive in America’s hat eh. Yes, it’s Vancouver today which is almost 500km (960 fully grown green anacondas) north of…..Vancouver.
Vansterdam, as the local stoners know it, is located just to the left of Calgary & it’s so popular it has an island named after it (as well as a city in Washington state).
Much of this popularity is largely due to native super hero, cynic personified & Wrexham AFC owner Dead Pool. Pool was so proud of his home town he went as far as commissioning a movie of his life story there.
Pool cast close friend, Ryan Reynolds, in the lead role & Reynolds was key in mentoring Vancouver in its near flawless role as Traverse City.
So impressed with this performance was Zack Snyder, that he cast Vancouver as Alaska in his 2013 Man Of Steel movie.
But all the super hero connections are overshadowed by a dark presence as the city was also the birthplace of the infamous Darth Vader. This was, of course before he moved to the heavily polluted Mustafar which his where his breathing started to deteriorate with Darth eventually needing a special mask to supply him with fresh Vancouver air.
However, before his move to the dark side, he developed the concept of Vancouverism which was the original inspiration for the Empire to build really big stuff. This has been recently disputed though & a legal challenge was launched by the Coruscant builders guild who accused him of plaigerism. They are seeking an out of court settlement as they don’t want to face Vader in person in case he force chokes them.
Staying away from the struggle between the light & dark sides we hope that everyone heading to the show today has a wonderful time after some salmon bannock burgers with a side of Skaha Summer Ale (or two) eh.
I was honestly expecting a lot of red, white & blue this tour. Happy to be proved wrong
