Our wandering minstrels travel further North to Oregon &, if ports are your thing, then you’re going to love the next stop as they reach Portland. Often considered to be the leading supplier of ports for all occasions. No port too small. etc….
While mostly recognised due to it’s population of unicycling Darth Vaders in kilts with flaming bagpipes (& it’s extensive selection of ports), Portland’s quest to stay weird can be observed throughout the city.
Fighting off stiff competition from Pawnee’s smallest park project, the city took the crown with their very own Mill Ends Park which is just two feet square or the size of an adolescent manta ray. This was the final straw for Leslie Knope who conceded defeat & moved on to the Department of the Interior in Washington, unable to face the disappointed residents of Pawnee.
But it gets weirder. Furthering the city’s desire to divert from the norm, the office for street names decided they would name a bunch of places after characters from The Simpsons. You can visit Lovejoy Street or take a stroll along Van Houten Avenue. Maybe take in the sights of Quimby Street finishing with the unmissable stupid sexy Flanders Street which runs from north west to north east Portland & even has a special sign paying homage to Homer’s favourite neighbour.
After taking in all the landmarks today (not to mention perusing the dazzling array of ports on offer) spiralcure will likely pause for some chicken & Jojos and a few glasses of Kill The Sun before heading to the venue. Let’s hope he has a brilliant time.
