trying to take advantage of the "cool" part of the day. it's 80F/27C at 5:30 AM in Seattle. set the Seattle all time record for high temperature yesterday @ 104F. that will be broken today. the forecast is for 110F, possibly a few degrees more. many restaurants & other businesses are closed today. supposed to cool off by 20 degrees tomorrow which is still plenty warm. luckily i've been able to keep my place at reasonable levels for the most part with no air conditioning. i'm still laid up waiting for tests on Friday (despite being vaccinated, I have to go downtown for a COVID test tomorrow. glad it's not today!). not a bad time to be house bound I think.
Studying. (I’m pursuing degree number two, but just another undergraduate program). Final exams are in a couple of days, so I’m gearing up for the final push.
It’s definitely not as easy as it once was though; my brain isn’t quite what it used to be!
While my niece and I were drawing on the sidewalk, a woman wearing stilettos walked by us. My niece’s eyes widen, and she asked me rather loudly “What kind of shoes are those”?, which resulted in me laughing my ass off.
The surprise “retirement party” car parade (due to Covid regulations, people from different households are still not permitted to gather together) when we planning has been detected! Oh well, we’ll still do it, it’ll just be a bit less exciting.
We’re at a family wedding that was postponed from last summer. It’s just a 2-hour train ride from where we live, so not major travel.
Oh I love going to weddings! I hope you and your family have a great-ass time!
We did have fun, thanks! I only had two drinks at the reception, which meant that 1) I didn't do anything too embarrassing, and 2) I felt fine the next day.
Our son was in the wedding and sat in the front row. During the ceremony the sound of the Dungeons and Dragons D20 die from his pocket hitting the floor resonated through the hall. Nothing better defines knowing the sound of your child as a parent.
