It's difficult thinking about another possible career transition in the near future. I love my office, it's beautiful and historic, it's in a fantastic location, I have great landlords. But rent and taxes are killing me. When I factor in all the hours o' admin work on top of providing actual services and then I factor in the 8.875% sales tax I must pay here, the #'s just don't make sense. I'm not able to sublet per my lease. I *could* take on an employee (I think), but I'm really spoiled from only having to consider myself at this point. When my two years are up I may not renew my lease and may start subletting from someone else.
If I dump my office I may try to start doing some writing/editing/admin contract work. I'll have a lot more free time, and sooner-or-later, I will have to give up my physical line of work anyway. My hands are getting arthritic even though I try not to use them too much or unwisely. If I < the amount of time I spend doing physical work, I can also save some of my limited energy to dance as much as possible in the likely last few years I have left to do it.
It's been almost 13 years in this line of work and I used to be a real career hopper. I love what I do so much, but there's a season for everything in life, I guess.
Thanks for letting me convince myself in writing. I think it's working.

@notkristie, if you haven't already please get your hands checked by a rheumatologist. What I'm worried about is the underlying cause. When I first got sick damn near 20 years ago 1 of my hips self destructed & had to be replaced. Until my current rheumatologit no one could figure out the cause so getting the correct treatment wasn't happening for a few years. So the damage was ongoing with nothing keeping it in check. The story is longer but some versions of arthritis are hard to detect & treat. Hope all works out for you.

Thanks but your situation and mine are quite different. I have osteoarthritis in many joints because I’ve been using my body very hard for the better part of 45 years. Given my line of work, I’m pretty knowledgeable about pathology. I know what I’m dealing with.
I absolutely cannot stand cancel culture because now we have 2000 people making decisions for 30 million. Don't like a television show a person in show business or music Don't watch their show or listen to their stuff. No, we have to Have the cyber bullies come out with their torches to protest. Ugh.
Happy the Man hasn't been played since 1984. That is all.
At least it has been played. His companion, Throw Your Foot, the amazing unique absurd gorgeous surreal funny glorious idiotic best-B-side-ever song has never been performed.

And it needs to before it all ends. So many missed opportunities. I guess Mr S doesn't think some songs are live worthy. Silly boy.
