From Houston, we head North to Dallas the third largest city in the USA.
Made famous in the 80’s thanks to the Ewing family’s reality TV show of the same name, everyone knows it’s most famous resident of all time. The scheming J.R. Ewing who was always out to get one over on arch rival Cliff Barnes in a bid to see who could make the most oil.
Dallas regularly pulled in between 18 & 20 million viewers every week largely thanks to the publicity campaign created after J.R. was shot at the end of season 3. A mystery that was kept under wraps until season 4. Over that summer the phrase “Who Shot J.R.?” was on everyone’s lips. It could have been just about anyone given he screwed just about everyone over. Even members of his own family. Eventually, watched by over 83 million viewers, it was revealed. Kristin, J.R.s sister in law who claimed to be pregnant with his baby & not long suffering wife Sue-Ellen who, in all honesty, should have shot him repeatedly 2 seasons prior & saved us all a summer of anguish.
But, despite all that drama drawing the world’s attention to a previously struggling small town, Dallas is probably most famous for it’s shower of resurrection. Wearer of magnificent hair & part time Man From Atlantis (& the nicer Ewing brother) Bobby Ewing was brutally mowed down by Katherine Wentworth & died from his injuries. But, & this is going to blow your minds so sit down, about a year later, Pam heard the shower running & went to investigate only to find it had brought Bobby back to life. But without the webbed fingers.
So, if you’re ever visiting South Fork Ranch (the capital of Dallas) & you hear the shower running, you might see a previously dead person emerge.
Right. Now that you know everything there is to know about Dallas, it’s time to wish lovekittens , spiralcure & sang a wonderful evening after they’ve finished noshing a huge Tex-Mex and quaffing plenty of Zeigen Bock.
Looks like it’ll be another red, white & blue evening……
