Yeah, absolutely. I think Bert (DVD) was a cockney accent. There are definitely regional accents there. I remember reading that when RS’ family move to a different part of the country when he was young he got beat up at school for sounding weird.
RS was born in Blackpool. Its only 12 miles from me as the crow flies (40 by road). RS would have had a stronger northern accent than mine, although still a relatively mild accent for the North West of England.
One of the main differences between northern & southern English accents is the pronunciation of the letter 'a' in words. In the North its a harder sounding 'a' as in 'apple' whilst in the South its more of an 'arr'.
Robert & Simon pronounce The Cure differently. With RS, Cure rhymes with 'paw" but with SG it rhymes with 'skewer'

If it rhymes with “paw” it must sound like the call of the crow!!!
In 2012 when i went to England steve took us to a fish and chip shop. While standing at the counter i was speaking with hairqween who was with us and an English lady smiled at me and asked if i was from Northeastern Pennsylvania. She was spot on. I was blown away. I didn't even realize i had an accent. She and her husband were lovely.
