Live report November 25th, Ziggo Dome, Amsterdam NL

In 1170 the north western part of the Netherlands experienced an event that would change things forever. The All Saints Flood.
The hugely popular girl band, now joined by the Appleton sisters & dropping the 1.9.7.5. from their name, were swamping the music charts with no fewer than 7 singles in the top 20. A phenomenon the likes of which had never been experienced by the Dutch before.
So the towns of Rotter & Amster (as they were known then) put their heads together & built dams to stem the flow of unwanted pseudo R&B acts taking over the airwaves & streaming sites with their watery nonsense.
Soon after, the towns out & dried flourished & Amsterdam took on city status with local builders further stemming the flow of major pop stars moving there by constructing very tall & narrow houses where it was practically impossible to get a piano through the doors, let alone to the bedrooms upstairs. Which is why Elton John & Billy Joel don’t live there.
There was further controversy in 1973 when the late David Bowie rebelled against the anti-pop star stance by singing about the drunk sailors eating fish heads and tails in the port of Amsterdam. Which prompted local authorities to open a lengthy investigation on the eating & drinking habits of all port workers in a largely successful effort to un-tarnish their image in the tourism & porting industries.
Amsterdam is known as the Venice of the North due to it’s network of canals & the fact that tourists pretty much take over the place in the summer months.
It is also known as the city of scratched vehicles as thousands of rogue bicycles run amok on the narrow cobbled streets. Their brake handles & the protruding metal pedal fixings brushing up against bodywork, removing numerous layers of paint & lacquer in one deft stroke.
Automobile owners are reported to have struck back at this reckless damage &, every year, around 25,000 bicycles are fished out of the canals. Although the four-wheeled community place the blame for this on drunken locals who inadvertently take their two-wheeled terrors for a midnight swim on the way back from the pub. The blame game goes on to this day with no winners except the body repair shops that have sprung up all around the city centre.
