Today is Stuttgart’s turn for The Cure.
Stuttgart is a fairly unsual city by German standards as it is spread out over a bunch of hills, some covered in wine plants.
Because of this lumpy terrain, the residents in the valleys had a really hard time getting decent reception on their TVs while the hill people could all settle down of a Saturday night & watch X Factor without having to resort to adding a bent coat hanger as an antenna booster.
Something had to be done before the low landers rioted in protest at not being able to see if Jennifer Weist had a new tattoo or not.
The plan came in 2 phases. To get to the top of the hills, some sort of ascent aid was required. No fewer than 400 sets of stairs were fitted to the sides of the hills which then paved the way for phase 2: Carrying many hundreds of bits of concrete up the stairs, 283m above sea level where Fritz Leonhardt stuck them all together to make the world’s first fernsehturm complete with a restaurant, viewing platform & free wifi.
However, X Factor was cancelled soon after so now the locals have to settle for human glitter ball Ruth Moschner on the Masked Singer instead. But they have brilliant reception now.
With TV sorted, King Wilhelm I decided he wanted mammoths too & so he bought 5000 mammoth tree seeds off evilbay and had a lot planted around the city. However, as with many on evilbay, he was scammed &, rather than bearing mammoths, the trees just grew really really big & blocked the roads.
With evilbay siding with the seller in the resulting dispute, citing that the notion of being able grow mammoths from seeds was clearly a joke, it was left to locals, Gottlieb Daimler and Carl Benz, to save the day with both men inventing cars so that people could simply drive through them.
Making their way into the trees & to the birthplace of Jürgen Klopp today are olivier & jofigurehead who’ll enjoy a warming, hearty bowl of gaisburger marsch all washed down with Stuttgarter Hofbräu so let’s hope they have a wonderful time.
Yellow & black are order of the day, but might just go with yellow.
