Hi, any Porcupine Tree or Steven Wilson fans here? I know steve likes PT. They are kind of heavier sometimes, but also very emotional. Lyrics melancholic and sad (or about mass murderers lol). Sometimes really long songs (PT reunited last year after 12 years of hiatus/hibernation)
And some Steven's solo songs (really sad and emotional) with great videos
Not really big on Wilson's solo stuff but PT are terrific. I know lioness is a bit of a fan too. When I fist saw them live I was absolutely stunned by just how incredibly tight they were & how perfectly mixed the sound was. & Gavin Harrison is possibly the finest drummer I've ever seen live. The Coma Divine performance of Radioactive Toy has to be one of the most stunning pieces of music ever played
Like steve said, I am a fan, too. Like him, mostly of Porcupine Tree stuff, not Wilson's solo. The tracks of PT you posted are excellent, they're also ones of my favourites. Sadly, I've never seen them live but the truth is that for many years now I haven't been an active concert goer for many reasons. I'm able to commit craziness only for The Cure
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.
We had 12 years without PT and I discovered them late - in 2014, so I was glad to see Steven solo. IΒ΄m not fan of his jazzy stuff on Grace for Drowning album, but Hand Cannot Erase is one of the best albums ever for me. I prefer PT too (Anesthetize is the ultimate live album, love Coma Divine too though). It was great to see them live finally (btw. I was in Amsterdam and thy filmed DVD/BR there, so probably next year) and yes, Gavin Harrison is one of the best drummers out there. Saw him with The pineapple thief too.

Haha yes it could be overwhelming to some in those crowd. I don't mind... I love concerts so I try to go to as many as could. Not too crazy - maybe about 8-12 events per year. But lockdowns and cancelations were torture for me...
So you're kinda prog girl? I love even some Polish acts - Riverside and Amarok (and Bokka - but it's kinda different lol)
Of course I am! The range of music I like is quite, quite wide
Riverside?
Lunatic Soul?
Man... My loves!
saw Riverside in september here in Prague. Finally for the first time... hope they come soon again π Mariusz is kinda like Polish Steven Wilson right? π (btw. they made one song together once)

I see Mariusz as more traditional artist than Steven, with a great sensitivity and need to create all the time. He seems to be more introverted, dealing with his private issues in his writing. Wilson in my eyes is a very modern artist, mingling different genres in a very successful way.
For sure they are both the icons of contemporary prog rock.

Steven doesn't like to be considered as prog artists because he did a lot of styles (even electronic, ambient or drone music). But truth is his biggest legacy is in prog. And he is workaholic too. If he doesn't record or tour his own music, he produces mixes or remixes other artists and as huge studio nerd he loves to do 5.1 or dolby atmos mixes with great reception. And both Mariusz and Steven like to talk a lot on the stage and are quite funny. I love how they don't take themselves too seriously π
