Oh no I hope you'll get well soon ! Thursday you'll have the time of your life and forget everything else, I'm sure. Cure shows are magic
thank you! very excited, never seen them play in frankfurt though it is less than 2 hrs away from here, unless the deutsche bahn train extends the trip unnecessarily
it’s strange, in leipzig i felt more as a spectator. had a very good spot, 4 or 5 row but was not “in” it that much, not that lots. only in a few songs. was quite busy watching robert, reeves and perry thow. they were so good to see, just soaking up all the details i usually miss cause of being more far away. however, with following the concerts on here with that lovely bunch of people you are, i feel more in it. think it also had to do with what happened these last years. it felt impossible to pick up things were i left them on the 2016 tour. it may be the same venues and same support but it is not the same! not the same world, not the same me. i feel different. guess needed time to find my spiritual place when seeing them again with accepting all these tensions and disruption inside.
it was too much, too intense all of a sudden, as if i open up too much i’ll just cry all night. also, the new songs did not touch me too much, i simply had no feel for them and they aren’t those that kick in instantly for me. the last two are easier for me, and the first three grew on me over these last weeks, hearing details like jason’s drumming in endsong, that i could not perceive in leipzig. too much too quick all at once, or not enough drinks to let go quickly!
so, in short, very excited about thursday now, which is nice! finally feeling the proper cure anticipation again, that i always used to have. same but different if that makes sense?
and this forum and you all contributed to this!! would not have happened without these live reports and so many joining in, commenting and sharing thoughts, jokes and emotions. making it all quite wonderful and special 💗
there! thought i’d share some love on a monday morning!! x
p.s. and yes, of course i have my songs, the ones that transport me away more easily.. a night like this did that in leipzig and the first encore, but there was no strange day, play for today, sinking, disintegration, plainsong, M, 3ib .. yes, fussy i know! but those are the ones that instantly push a button for me, almost like a reflex no matter where or how.
It was a lovely read. Thank you so much ! And thank you for the joy you bring to these threads
About Frankfurt, this is so exciting ! There's a first time for everything And I understand how you felt like spectator, it happens unfortunately. But now is another opportunity, and the fact that you feel the anticipation is an excellent sign ! I'm sure everything will be alright, and I hope you'll get some of your songs !
godwina Thanks for the lovely comments above! My Monday is already nicer! 😊 I know what you mean by being the "spectator" who's not really in it. Often I feel like that in daily life too. There's a lot of inner work for me to do 😀 But it sounds like you're back on track now and will have a good time being present at the show! 🙂 Enjoy your upcoming concert💕

So, now that the NA leg of the tour is over and having checked all the setlists, I can say that I attended what was the perfect concert of this tour for me. The best setlist to my old Cure fan taste, If only tonight, Figurehead, A strange day, Hanging Garden, Faith and One hundred years in the same concert was stunning. A weird setlist as Robert said. A forest with additional "agains", the first time Robert does this since 96' or something I think... As mentioned before, all the band was in a great mood. Robert's voice was perfect and particularly emotional and, his singing was at its best, he performed the best A strange day since long years. The best sounding venue of the three shows I attended too. The only weak spot to me was the same at every show: Perry being undermixed and Roger a bit overmixed, especially on the Figurehead. We talked many times of this gig with friends who attended it too and we all think this was the best concert of this tour. Only the addition of 10:15/Killing could have make it better. My only regret on this tour is having chosen Paris instead of Nantes, Where M, Drowning man and Kyoto song were performed.
