Welcome to Florence.
When not swanning around the world’s festival stages demonstrating her rather impressive pipes with her machine while dressed as a fairy, or meeting up with her friends by the magic roundabout, Florence can be found relaxing in central Italy being the capital of Tuscany.
The city’s name became so popular that it was copied by no fewer than 28 American states, a town in Canada & another in England. Naturally this didn’t sit well with residents who felt their identity was being diluted somewhat so they decided to change the name to Firenze after the second highest money earning racehorse in American history.
In the early 1940’s the city faced a dire crisis as the lady folk found that they simply didn’t have enough pockets to carry around their purses & makeup & car keys & that when they did, it created unsightly bulges in the fit of their frocks. So Lady Gaga’s grandfather in-law, Guccio Gucci came up with an ingenious solution & Florence became known as the birthplace of really expensive handbags which soon became an international sensation. Even more so thanks to the addition of a rather snazzy badge.
The handbag industry still lives on today some 80 years on despite Gaga ordering a hit on her ex husband who apparently refused to make one out of meat to match one of her dresses.
Florence also became home to notorious, psychopathic, cannibal serial killer, Hannibal Lecter. The fugitive managed to go unnoticed quite effectively, disguising himself as Dr Fell, by simply wearing a hat. That is, until Chief Inspector Rinaldo Pazzi recognised him from the first movie.
Having moved there from Palermo, interspersed with jaunts to Maryland, Tennessee & even the Bahamas to sample the food there, he munched his way through library curators & disembowled policemen before returning to Washington to feast on Deputy Assistant Attorney Generals, Lecter has since vanished into thin air. However, Florence police are continually on the lookout for out-of-towners in hats. So please be careful in those new The Cure bucket hats.
