You're right and I hope it stays that way because I love to tell myself that he doesn't force things, you know ? That whatever way he ends the show, that's how he felt like ending it, without pressuring himself to end a specific way. I don't really know how to explain it well

Yes but they wouldn't have known faith/porn, they'd have been hoping for the cure's biggest hit up to that point, lovecats, which the band never played for years!! Bit like sisters not playing biggest hit temple of love live much in early days.

I'm just back home after the show. I have seen The Cure live many, many times, but this was one of the best concerts I've experienced. I felt very emotional; I haven't been able to hold back a few tears during At night, A Strange Day, The Hanging Garden, then Cold, Burn, and Faith. These are not simply songs for me, they are so deeply rooted inside of me in ways words can't express.

I was hoping for some surprise during the pop encore (Doing The Unstuck, which is a favourite of mine, or Hot Hot Hot, since apparently they soundchecked it), but it was absolutely amazing all the same.

It might be age, it might be the fact I know they are close to the end, it might be the overall tone of this tour and of the new songs, but it really was an emotionally intense experience.

Sorry if I couldn't contribute with streaming and stuff like that. Apart from the fact that I'm a bit of a luddite, for me seeing the cure is something intense and I cannot do it holding up a phone.

I am very appreciative of those who do record and share, though.

It would make sense if the one speaking was Simon, he owns that song with that bass line! :-)

Yes, that is one classic I would always want there. But hey something's gotta give, I guess.

The band felt the same about Lovesong when they were making the album. They considered it the weakest on it. I actually think it's one of their best: so multi-layered and rich in memorable riffs. It's like it merges the pop side and the "deeper" side of The Cure into one song somehow. Although I liked it better live when Porl and Boris were around.

But you know, de gustibus non disputandur etc.

Instead, one regularly played song I feel lukewarm about is In Between Days. I like it, but I can easily find 100 songs in their catalogue that I like more.
