Also a reminder that even if Robert Smith is in a wheelchair they can have him amble out to the stage to sing "Lovesong". Great to see our acts still going in 2022!
With Genesis performing their final show in London, I've been tracking down old CDs from them and the band members from the eighties.
Although I am familiar with Mike + the Mechanics, their debut album shocked me hearing it for the first time this past week. This is a beautiful work with a few off numbers but the overall effect is exquisite:
The biggest surprise was this soft ballad of dreaming of love at night, "Par Avion". It brings to mind (to me) The Cure's Kiss Me album. Listen to Paul Carrack's stunning vocals:

I think it's important to remember that as artists age they may not offer us what they used to, but they still have a lot to offer. What they give to us changes and is different. That doesn't mean it's any less important.

Much better than I expected too - advantage of having the London shows delayed to the end meant his voice was much stronger than the start of the tour. Hackett was touring Seconds Out around then too so I really got my fill of Genesis Mike & The Mechanics touring soon too.
