Has anyone here recently gone from a Windows 10 PC to a MAC?
How did you find the experience?
Is there anything that happened that's really good or really bad?
I'm thinking of making the change to MAC but am concerned I'll hate it and be down many thousands of dollaros and be stuck with a machine I hate, and worse, find annoying to use. I mean, Alt-Tab's the best....

Do you mean macOS? iOS is the mobile operating system. I made the change many years ago & never looked back. In fact I am at the point where I now struggle to use a windoze PC. It's a bit strange at first but very intuitive & quick to get used to. On top of that the OS is really very fast & way more stable than any windoze build ever released. None of your BSOD bullshiat either If you're that concerned, you can partition the drive to install windoze on one partition while having macOS on the other. But if you use any of the MS office suit, that's also available for OS. Worth looking at getting the apple care package too so that if in the unlikely event of anything going wrong or breaking, you're covered.

I'm with steve . After being strictly PC/Windows I switched to a Mac almost 20 years ago and never looked back. Viruses, blue screen of death, things of the past. It's really been totally trouble-free for me (although it helps to live with a computer engineer who takes care of all the tech). For me there was really no learning curve at all.

I've done it, I've ordered an iMac.. It's RED AND PINK!!! yayayayay
Should be here within three weeks
I've had a long boring time formatting external HDs to exFAT and transferring TERRABYTES of data across so I can read all my FLAC, WAV, DVD and MP3 files on my new computer, and write to the drives!
I guess finding alternate software for some things will be a bit of a pain, but I'll work it out. Either that or wifey gets a new iMac about a week after I do....

You'r eall mad, WIndows is sublime, especially Windows 11 Pro - plus if you get bored you can jjust add a Linux system, no need to buy anything new. I'll guarantee my Windows machine does anything your MAC's can do ... DELL XPS 15 with 4k OLED screen, imtel 12th Gen i9 processor, it's a dream!
One thing though, what are DVD and MP3 files?!?!?!

I bet it does more, specifically all those excellent impromptu Windows updates that literally have rendered my laptop unusable time and time again, with so many completely frozen screens, that I've had to hold the power button down to kill, then restart, then watch as I'm forced to update Windows because, you know, I've paid for the PC, but I don't get to decide when I install updates, because, you know, billgates knows better than me, what I want to do and when...... Yes I know you can "turn off" or "delay" updates, but it gets to a point where Windows ignores your settings and off it trots, and installs the updates anyway.
Honestly, I'm over it, I'm due for a new machine so we'll see.
It's only a computer anyway, hardly anything worth being overly interested in or obsessive about, it's just a tool to "take care of business"... As long as it's stable, runs Reaper and Audacity fine which I know it will, esp given how much RAM I'm getting RAMMED (hahahha) in there, everything else will take care of itself.
Happy daze.

I'm a happy windoze user and a pc tinkerer, hardware enthusiast and gamer, none of which would be relevant on a Mac. But I'm sure mac is more stable. I last had blue screen a few weeks back but not out of the blue, I thinks I know what caused it. You're experiencing hardware fever, a feeling well known to me, and I'm sure you'll be happy with your new machine.

Have you managed to dual-boot Windows 11 and linux without a hassle? It's been over 20 years since I last had linux, and it was my only OS at the time. I don't know how dual-booting works nowadays, and I cannot consider having linux as the only os nowadays. Can you boot it from a memory stick, or do you lose all the speed advantage that way?

bluewater Yes, I have Linux and Windows 11 running perfectly - Linux is on an external SSD connected by thunderbolt 4 so there's no loss of speed at all. A friend's PC died recently and I rescued it using a Linux "Live" USB, after that I installed Linux on an SSD just to try it out, I like it.
