I generally find New Year's Eve a bore, (aside from the time that I saw Regurgitator playing a NYE show at The Corner Hotel back in 2011 www.anaussiemusicfan.com/regurgitator/gig/2257 what a rad gig that was...) so for many many years now I find myself not celebrating but bringing in the new year by watching a Star Wars movie, usually Episode IV A New Hope and then when the clock strikes 12, I play Open so the first song I hear for the year is my favouritest bestest The Cure song!
What do you do to either celebrate, commiserate, or not even think about, or avoid, or whatever, this <insert adjective here> night of the year??

If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!
Here I usually have a small gathering & we listen to our favourite music from the past year whilst getting quite merry Don't really have a first of *new year* tune really. It's all quite random. Although, saying that, I do like to play New Day the following morning. Anything that's not that flaming U2 song or that ABBA song. While they're both okay songs, they are way too overplayed & I'm frankly quite sick of hearing them for the trillionth time.
As for "traditional" traditions, in Hungary people will eat lentil soup (the lentils represent coins/ good fortune) & virsli (pron veershlee). Although buggered if I know what virsli represents. We don't eat anything that swims or has wings as it represents wealth swimming or flying away.

steve have you ever heard the remix below? I personally like this far more than the version that was on the album. It was on the "2 Hearts" 12". I saw them on the "War" tour in a small theater & that's way up on my favorite gig list. They were still a few albums away from playing stadiums but you could definitely see it coming.
Nope. That song is irredeemably ruined. Even cover versions (which are mercifully limited in number) will make me reach for the stop/ off switch. Other music is available.
I hate NYE/NYD. I don’t like large quantities of drunk people and I have to say I just don’t get it. The calendar doesn’t mean much to me so it seems like a false pretense. Don’t even get me started on new year’s resolutions.
I’m definitely with @notkristie on this! In my youth, I would often find myself at some mediocre house party, but for many years I’ve mostly stayed home, and gone to bed long before midnight. Just not into NYE or NY resolutions for that matter. Wait, wait I’ve changed my mind: I resolve to see zee boys live in 2022.

I just remembered a sorta NYE superstition, when I was young, my group of friends would say that if you didn’t kiss someone on NYE you’d be cursed with bad luck all year long ! Ha ha!

Well, lol, I wonder how that's going to go over this year?

I love lentils and I'd love to try Hungarian lentil soup but can't even imagine eating parówki [pron. paroovkee] (virsli) in New Year not to mention the idea what they may represent....
I wish I read it earlier. I ate turkey as a kabanos sausage and a bit of chicken in salad tonight. Does it count for wealth flying away?
But I don't see And I don't feel But tightly hold up silently My hands before my fading eyes And in my eyes Your smile
I mistook stars reflected in a pond at night for those in the sky.

Ill confess that I kissed the back of my hand last night and pretended it was someone else. That should count right, so no year of bad luck for me?!
