Hi, i am C(ure)F(an). It took me days to come up with that name:). Anyway, I am glad to be able to post on this forum, so thank you.
My Cure fascination and appreciation started in the the early 1980's. Amazing music and imaginary. After hearing 100 years and Pornography for the first time (i was a fan before that, though) i was blown away. The wailing guitarts, drums, bass, synthesizers and the voice of Robert really showed me a new entry in music.
Before that, I was into Lennon and later Harrsion (never the Beatles, though, until now.). Also, I liked the work up to 1984 by Jean Michal Jarre a lot.
Also, i was into Simple Minds, New Order, early U2 and a lot of Elvis. Talk Talk, Talking Heads, Tom Waits, David Bowie, Kraftwerlk, Leonard Cohen and Patsy Cline, Pink Floyd etc.... deserve a strong push, imho.
Anyway, I really dug The Cure from 1982 onwards and they became my main focus musical wise for nearly 30 years (sharing the first spot with Elvis).
From 2008 onwards my interest never waned but there was just so little new material. So i learned to appriaciate the plethora of riches instead. I was very happy with the releases from inbetween then and now. Especially after the Hyde Park show was reeased, i tended to look back instead of forwards, Cure wise.
If they never release a new thing, i won be judging them. They can sit back and relax, imho. Thanks, Cure men!! Thanks, for a lovely, sad, depressing happy and attrictive mix of styles that make The Cure The Cure.
I think many fans of TC have pretty eclectic musical taste (TC's catalog certainly doesn't all sound the same) and I think that's so much more interesting than only liking one type of music.
