My favorite time of year, I honestly get so excited. We tested our carving skills earlier😂,. Granted we messed some of the letters up but 10 out of 10 for effort😂.

Our local zoo is holding their annual Halloween events (fair, haunted houses, etc), which I’ll likely attend with my niece. She’s only 5, so I hope it’s not too scary !

I bet she loves it. She might be a little afraid but what a great memory she will have.

starxx - how is Halloween celebrated in Ireland ? Here, in Canada, it’s mostly for children (parties in schools, trick or treating, special events like fairs), but lots of adults have costume parties. In my late teens/early 20’s (legal drinking age here is 18), we’d hit the clubs wearing our finest costumes. One year we dressed as Mötley Crüe groupies (hope I can find a photo of that night), and another year we went as the cast of Baywatch.

Pretty much the same. The kiddies have their parties in school and break up for midterm that day. I miss my son being little to dress up. When I was in my twenties I'd do the same, make a big effort with the costume and head out on the town with my friends . I still dress up that day though, it wouldn't be the same if I didn't

I’m honestly surprised that Halloween is a thing on the ‘other side’ of the pond, I really thought it was mostly a NA thing. My closest pal is in his late 40’s and from London, and unfortunately, he never had the joy of trick or treating, or even dressing up for Halloween.
We never had Halloween in Spain. It has always been “something from the US”. Now, “they” are trying to incorporate it to the folklore, but for people my age and older it looks very fake, so forced, nothing really that has a tradition behind, But kids seems to love it even it is just a pale reflection of what you have there. Guess it will be accepted as a local celebration some years from now.

I can remember visiting my aunt in London when I was younger. We wanted to dress up and go trick or treating and she was telling us it wasn't done over there. We dressed up anyway and went trick or treating 😂. The neighbors were delighted to see us dressed up gave us lots of nice treats.🙂

As kids me and my family went around relatives for sweets... but as an adult I don't know many, if any, people who do more than buy a pumpkin...

That will be fun. It's always good to do stuff like that with the little kids. My friend's granddaughter is almost 2. They took her to the zoo & she loved it. She loves the animals. She made them go back to the gorilla exhibit so she could say bye bye. There's baby gorillas, so that was a huge hit. She's talking in complete sentences & told me about it. Her big brother (almost 5) is a bit of a rascal & evidently has been teaching her about bad words. He was giving her a bad time in the car. She turned & said "don't f with me!", hahahaha. At least she had the context & usage right!
