What, in your experiences, was the best Mosh Pit you've been in and why?
I think mine has to be Siouxsie & The Banshees. It was rough but, if you got knocked down, someone would scoop you up immediately. And then push you back into the melee. I recall emerging after a Hyaena show and I had all manner of jewellery hooked on my jumper.

Free jewelry appeared on your clothes ? This mosh- pit thing could be quite lucrative...
I’ve seen them quite a few times, especially at ‘punk’ shows (face to face, Rancid, Propaghandi), but I stayed far away from the action. Ever have a steel-toe boot make contact with your mouth.... 😐

Never had that happen. You're never on the floor long enough for that. Someone will usually pick you up or, at least, everyone backs off until you get up under your own steam. It is a lot of fun but I doubt I could manage a whole show in the pit these days.
The best ones were the ones where your feet left the floor and you couldnt touch the floor if you tried - impossible to go down!
I was on the barrier for a Neds show at Reading - security told us after that they took 200+ crowd surfers over the barrier during their set.
I rmemember a Prodigy show in a tent - wasn't a mosh pit but was so hot they hosed the crowd so we all came out spotless clean, was like a sauna
Fav Banshees memory was at the T&C, the support band had been baiting the audience for all 3 nights, by the third the crowd had organised and all empty glasses (mostly plastics..) were passed forward to the front rows to be thrown at the band. Fun times!
When I look at the beginning of Orange, it seemed really fun!
Nowadays, Cure audience is quite quiet, not a lot of hoo hoo hoo on play for today, not a lot of clapping on push, not a lot of hands in the air on fteotdgs, not long and loud applause between the songs, etc... I'd be on stage i'd find it quite depressing i think.

Not so sure. At The Cure shows, as opposed to festivals, I think the crowds are certainly quite rowdy.
Aside from that, there haven't been too many crowds anywhere in the past year or so.
NIN and Ministry at the first two Lollapaloozas were good. Most recently, the Napalm Death pit when they opened for Melvins was good, maybe 4 years ago.
