well since the cure aren't playing the americas (yet), i'll just have to settle for the stones in seattle in may. the tongues are up at century link field. i know they are far past their prime but they've been an important part of my life. when i was 17, i conned my parents into letting me drive from seattle to denver to see them on the some girls tour. at that point it looked like keith was going to jail in canada for a very long time. he got out of that through kindness. there was a blind canadian girl super fan who would follow them on the canadian tours. keith got wind of it & always made sure she was taken care of at the shows & after. she testified at the trial & the judge was so moved that keith got off with doing some charity shows for the blind. also, jimmy carter let keith into the states & let him do rehab, probably saving him from himself. i've seen them over 20 times. i don't need the super expensive tix as the stadium has good sound. they are still legends & most likely this will be the last chance to see them. Pipperoo , yes they can be bad in concert but they can also be magical. i've seen both. have seen them in every size venue from a 1200 seat club (spendy!) to football stadium. over 20 shows since 1978. mick has taken charge of the production & there is a professionalism now. & keith & ronnie are sober(ish). whilst i'd rather see the cure doing disintegration, the stones are still legends. should be fun!
this is how they are letting cities know a show is coming. sacred ground in seattle. home of the seahawks:
I got the exact seats I wanted for the Seattle show. Disabled section, front of upper deck. About perfect for a spectacle & the sound is great. & @ $100 each, not out of line at all. Sat there for U2 & Metallica & was quite happy. No Cure for me but this will be an acceptable placebo, haha.

That is great news Chuck!! It will make the show more enjoyable!! Have fun!!
According to the radio he is resting comfortably and will be in the New York hospital for about five days. I wonder if he has good insurance? And he is going to be over his allotted 3.8 day hospital stay goal. Little macabre hospital case manager humor there. Haha

think the message is that if you're into some of these kind of acts you should go now if you get the chance. you never know. since the stones are postponed i just got neil young tickets in a theater the night before the stones were supposed to play. (sorry to mention steve !) willie nelson's sons are backing neil, Promise of the Real. they are quite good. Lukas was in Star is Born as most visible band member. for instance, i'm really glad i got to see leonard cohen before he passed away. that was a stunning show. back to stones: i'm guessing they will play seattle in september. i can wait since i have to haha.
Saw the Stones Wednesday (probably for the last time). I've seen them over 20 times since 1978 & they were actually quite good, better than I was expecting. The presentation was huge but not gimmicky. Sound was great for a stadium show. Opening was Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real. They were excellent. At times Lukas sounds like a young version of his dad but rocks. They had a nice surprise. Lucius provided backing vocals for this show. Any of you who saw the last Roger Waters tour know how good they are. They went over well. The Stones came on with "Street Fighting Man". Great way to start a show. Keith Richards is sort of in decline but he brought it this show. Ron Wood was probably best I've seen him. Seems that sobriety is agreeing with him. & Mick Jagger seems timeless. Considering he had heart surgery recently its pretty staggering that he's out on tour & doing high energy shows. Out of 19 songs played there was only 1 that I maybe would've changed. Also, I got 2 songs that I'd never seen them play (Sweet Virginia & You Got the Silver). My favorite part was a small acoustic set out in the middle of the crowd. They did "Virginia" & a great version of "Dead Flowers". Whilst I've seen them play better, this was still a very good show. It was a long day as there was a chance I might get to meet them. That didn't turn out but it was still a great day. Had to take yesterday off to recover & still am dealing with the after effects. Back to work today. The good news is that a week from now, I will be retired! I am hoping that when that happens, stuff like going to concerts will be less of a struggle. I can't even fathom doing a festival type show right now & the big stadium show was a challenge. I'm hoping we get a nice Cure arena tour in the states soon!
