Hello to all The Cure Community !!! 😊

I am Kiwifan, I live in France (Paris) (so I'll do my best but forgive me if I sometimes make some mistakes) and I've discovered The Cure in 1988.

I was in boarding school, so I could not buy LPs and the CDs were yet very rare, so I used to buy The Cure records on tapes. Happily, at this time, the Cure tapes got much more materials than any other kind of support

My first two Cure tapes were Standing On A Beach (and the unavailable b-sides) (the unvailable b-sides were only found on the tape support) and Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me (with the song "Hey You !!!" into it, which was not available on CD versions).

I've seen The Cure 10 times in concerts, my very first one was in 1990 at La Fête de la Musique, June 21, in Paris (France) where they gave a free gig, it was really amazing ! I'll never forget it !

My next concert was in October 15th, 1996 at le Palais Omnisports de Paris Bercy, in Paris (France)

My 3rd and 4th times were the same year at Le Zénith, in Paris (France) in April 25th, 2000 and April 26th, 2000

My 5th, 6th and 7th times were in the same year in July 1st, 2001 at the Roskilde festival (Denmark), October 26th, 2001 at Le Réservoir (Paris, France) and November 23rd, 2001 at La Scène (Paris, France)

My 8th and my 9th times were in the same year in the Carhaix festival (France) in July 20th, 2002 and in Hyde Park (London, England) in July 27th, 2002

And my 10th time was in August 13th, 2005 in Saint Malo (France)

I love every single Cure album from 1979 (Three Imaginary Boys) to 1992 (Wish). I really dislike Wild Mood Swings (1996) and Bloodflowers (2000), but I really like strongly The Cure (2004) and I'm starting to discover 10:13 Dream (2008) and to like it even more than The Cure in 2004... Let's say there are songs on 10:13 Dream I really like and songs I yet need more time to know for sure if I really dislike them or if I finally like them (I bought that album only some days ago !!).

On 4:13 Dream I've got today 9 favourite titles on 13 :

• Underneath The Stars

• The Only One

• The Reasons Why

• Freakshow

• The Hungry Ghost

• Switch

• This, Here And Now With You

• Sleep When I'm Dead

• The Scream

I dislike The Perfect Boy, The Real Snow White and It's Over

But until the Wish album, there is not a single title I am not absolutely crazy about.

I love all their b-sides from 1979 to 1996 (and I love the b-sides This Morning and Fake (2004)), and I am crazy about the songs "Burn" (1994) and "Dreddsong" (1995) too.

I think I will stop here my introduction post 'cause if I don't, it will be very long, for sure 😉

10:13 Dream is actually an excellent album, I think it is the best one they ever did since Wish. But it can take time to understand that. I knew about that album since its released but I only listened to it on Youtube, and I honestly really dislike the songs I've heard. But a few days ago, I decided to give one more chance to the post-Wish Cure albums, so I've bought again Wild Mood Swings (I've previously sold), Bloodflowers (same thing), The Cure and I bought for the very first time 4:13 Dream and started to listen to it carefully.

My first listen was really not a success. I said "I won't ever listen to it ever !"... But one morning I woke up with a song inside my head again and and again and again... and again !! (Lol ! "A Forest" 😂😂😂)

It was "This, Here And Now With You", so I played that song from my CD, and I actually really loved it !

I tried with several other songs, and bit by bit I started to really love them.

People often forget that The Cure albums are not always immediate. It took me years (maybe a decade !) to love Disintegration !!! I often said "It's a dead album"... And now, I think it is one of their masterpieces !!!

So the least we could do is to be very careful when there is a Cure album you don't like, because that does not mean the album is not good, that only means human beings (it's sad to say) are often very distrustful or even hostile towards things they don't know, so it can sometimes take time, but in the name of what The Cure has been able to do during 13 years, we have to take a real listening year to what they've done we dislike, have patience, and give it more chances.

We have to remember that new things or changes can scare... That does not mean they're bad. It is not a problem they have, it is a problem we have, I think.

And I am sure you are not the only one person who like 10:13 Dream... People are scared to be different too, and to speak different, from what other people say... Once more, it takes time. 😉

Internet has created a dimension of snapshot, and it changed people in getting used to snapshots, but I think life is not that way. It needs time for many things, and the artistic approach is one of them. It needs time. Everything is not a snapshot. In my opinion, many people loose their ability to wait with the Internet factor... everything has to be here and now. But that's not the way things are IRL.
