So this August will be the 30th anniversary of the famed gig the Cure played at Crystal Palace Bowl in 1990....mad how time flies.
I'm part of a community group who are currently trying to revive live music at this most unusual and historic South London venue (www.crystalpalacebowl.com). It's been redundant for several years now but before the Cure it hosted the likes of Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, Eric Clapton, Lou Reed and the Beach Boys throughout the 1970's and 80's. Though the Victorian-era lake in front of the stage wasn't to everyone's taste...back in the day stoned audience members used to swim in it during performances!
We're compiling a public archive of people's recollections and memories from all the concerts that happened there, plus producing a short documentary film on the long history of music at Crystal Palace. So it would be lovely if any of you who attended that show would be willing to share your stories of the day and dig out any photo's. I know there's a pretty good bootleg in existence, but we're also trying to track down the pro footage that was filmed...did some of this appear in the Picture Show VHS? Has any more ever been released??
