Three in-person instruction days into the school year, our son's group now has to quarantine and can't go back to school for 10 days. That happened a lot quicker than I was expecting!

Ugh. I'm sorry. This seems messy all around. Hang in there!
Hmmmm, interesting. Mr. K is on the phone now with contract tracers for spawn. So, it's running five days past the known exposure. And they say our contact tracing program is poorly run - pshaw!
This makes me laugh. It's spawn's last day of quarantine due to exposure at school. Our government-sponsored COVID "care package" just arrived. Everything a 7-yo needs to get through quarantine! Contents: antibac wipes, a million disposable masks, hand sanitizer (good for when you can't get to the liquor store), disposable thermometers, an informative pamphlet, a plea to fill out the census, and one ad for Microsoft.
What, no vial of the mayor's blood, sweat, and tears?

Sounds like Belgium is having a really bad problem right now. Wales going to have a 2 week lockdown. I really have to take issue with the term "lockdown". Nobody has EVER been in lockdown. Everybody has been allowed to go to the store for essential items & medicines, go for their daily run, jog, dog walk, bike ride etc. Hardly what I'd call being locked down is it?

Agree completely with the semantics of "lockdown". Very frustrating.
