Great news: after 10 years, John Frusciante has rejoined the band again. 1 of my favorite musicians for sure. Right up there with Reeves on the guitar hero list!
He should rejoin with The Mars Volta and not that boring band...
go back & listen to "by the way", rafa. especially the deeper cuts. that's the record frusciante really took over, his brian wilson moment. there's some amazing stuff there that has held up real well. i like "stadium arcadium" plenty too but it should've been a single record not a double. john did some good stuff with mars volta for sure but those guys are a little too (for lack of a better word) wanky for their own good. the weak link in RHCP is anthony. always has been. personally, i think frusciante is a much better singer. i've got some live tapes where they've turned down anthony's vocals & john's up. they sound much better that way. & in addition to being a really nice guy, flea is probably on the short list of best bass players out there.

Sorry, but I can't go back to that band. I can't stand that singer. I liked Mother's Milk and BSSM back in the day, but then I saw them live and thought "never again". I like Frusciante and also Flea, but anything they have done with the Voltas and Antemasque is much more interesting, IMHO.
most of the band is about my age (mid-late 50s). word is they can't see themselves doing the peppers much longer. most likely, this will be the last hurrah. is a good thing. don't think orthopedic socks would have quite the same impact!
Flea did some shows with Thom Yorke a few years ago, they were a great combination. Not a RHCP fan but have seen them a couple of times, once with Dave N and once with Frusciante, they've never really been my cup of tea though.
