yes.it has more in common with films like ‘taxi driver’ ‘fight club’ and ‘king of comedy’ than any superhero film.
it is not a ‘superhero’ film at all

I was NOT going to check this out until your last post. I am so sick of rehashed movies. (sorry Star Wars fans but yeah them too). But if you're saying it's like Taxi Driver I get it. I might like it. Thanks for the review!

it’s brilliant,couldn’t recommend it enough.Joaquin Phoenix is amazing in it,can’t take your eyes off him when he’s on screen

Watched it last weekend. I dunno... Very well crafted, beautifully shot, Joaquin Phoenix is brilliant, but still...

I find it, above all, that it is a rip off of the early Scorsese -Mean Streets, Taxi Driver and surprisingly, The King of Comedy- mixed with Fincher's 90's films aesthetics and atmospheres. The film benefits from the very powerful imagery and mythology of the Joker character, and indeed it is very well done, but... not sold on this one.

Going to join the not entirely sold crowd. I enjoyed it while I watched it, but I won't seek it out to re-watch. Agree with gongoro73 , it's well-crafted and Phoenix does a great job, but there's just something missing. For me I think the issue is in the script/story itself, there's just something slightly off with it for me.
