Yes, it's easier to go a concert in your hometown and not to travel a long way to see a band, but i have done it and haven't reget it, but is was Cure, wouldn't do that for other bands

I have the same problem!! and in my case, I'm 16 years old and my parents won't let me travel on my own, that's why I'm not going to see The Cure live this year But I will make sure I never miss a gig when I'm older, even if I have to go on my own! But, let's not get off topic, guys.. Talk about Placebo here
Cool, a young Placebo fan. You were a baby when their debut was out! I'm like that to most of the Cure fans on here as I was born in 79 ! Wait til you get your own car and you can go to any gig you want ! Placebo rule

That's amazing! You were also a baby when The Cure started as a band. Awesome! I was born 4 months after their debut album was released, so yeah..I was just a baby when they started touring in the 90s. I would have loved to see them live during those years, you know.. young Brian looking like a pretty lady and blonde Stef! omg! haha.. I would have loved to be around during those years.. but well, that's life. And I'm sure I'll see them someday, hopefully this year, after they release the new album!
Well, a lot of bands are doing the nostalgia thing of playing entire albums live, I'm still holding out for Placebo doing the first 2 albums live, that would be immense. I saw them 'in their prime' in 1998 and 2000, at some festival and then again in 2009. I can vouch for them being awesome live in 98 & 00, it was a pretty insane and intense mosh pit at one of them, I got barged over and ended up in a heap on the floor and may mate was stood next to this scary Marilyn Manson lookalike. Other than that it was awesome, I remember seeing Stefan in his full length black leather jacket and surely the tallest bass player I've ever seen. They played a veriocious version of Evil Dildo at the end.
There's loads I missed too - never saw Joy Division, Pixies, Smiths, I could go on. Would love to have seen Prayer or Wish tour Cure as well
Have you got the b-sides of Placebo's? The early stuff like Miss Moneypenny and Slackerbitch is great.
My parents wouldn't have allowed me to travel when i was 16. My first concert i have visited with my sister and her friend in 1986. I've missed also Joy Divison, okay i was too young to see them live, but i've missed the Prayer Tour from Cure in 1989 I didn't want to go alone, so i stayed at home.
Are the b-sides from Placebo good?

A nice thread - so I as well really like Placebo. To be honest they are my second favourite band. If I don't listen to the Cure it's usually Placebo I do listen to. What I most like about them is their great live performance. Nowadays there are only a few bands who can really play live and who sound better than on CD. Placebo were always great live - the last time I saw them was the mera luna festival last summer - it was a brilliant show. A pity that none of it got released as in former years (sonic Seducer dvd).
