They're doing a gig in London tonight, so I'm gonna pop along and go see what they're like live.
Should be a giggle!!
If anyone else fancies joining me, please do coz otherwise I'm going on my own and will be a right ol' Billy-No-Mates!!
Ah, I have birthday drinks to go to in town on Saturday otherwise I'd have been up for that! Can't really stretch to two London nights out this weekend though
It appears to be some kind of 'new band showcase' thing.
The first guy on was nothing special, but the second band are a bit fun and bouncy. ITWT are on last, buggrit. There goes my plan for a much-nederd early night!
Feel a bit of a chump being here on my own though!!
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Surprisingly - for a showcase gig - the venue (which is admittedly quite small) was quite busy! However, I guess it was mostly family and friends supporting whichever band, so by the time ITWT hit the stage, audience numbers had flippin' halved.
But ... they put on a great little show. All credit to them, they do it well - and you know me: if I think something's sh*t, I'll say it and won't hold back. I'm too old and been in this bloody stupid industry FAR too long to pretend that I like something if I don't. Don't care who or what something/one is associated with, if something's pants, it's pants.
But these guys aren't. They play solidly, the tunes are neat, gritty and to-the-point, there's no waffle or amateur noodleage, etc, etc, etc. Sure, there's room to grow, but that's true of everything in life.
So I enjoyed their set. (A couple of the earlier bands were OK too. Nothing earth-shattering mind, just easy on the ear and enjoying themselves - which is the main thing.)
Would I go see ITWT again? Probably, but I'll rope some of you lot into coming along too: I felt like a right nerk standing there on me own!!
...and before any of you 'orrible oiks ask, no, I didn't see Our Simon there and even if I had, I would have left the poor bugger well alone coz the last thing he'd need on a night out to see his son's band is some berk barrelling up to him and going, "OHMIGODSYOU'RESIMONGALLUP!!!"
...coz he probably already knows that!!!
The early bird might get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Thanks for the nice review B13 It seems you've enjoyed the gig. Still haven't been listening to ITWT, but i will It was nice that Eden's uncle Ric also where there. I also would've talked to him or to Simon if he were there, what he wasn't. Think to let them in peace is better, before you disgrace yourself. BTW i've been listening to some Violet Vendetta stuff some time ago and i liked it very much Hope i will have the chance to see ITWT live on stage some day
I walk wondering why, the same dream so many times

Glad you liked the gig! If I was across the pond I'd join ya for the next show. I can only hope for US dates someday. Gee...they would make a nice opening act for a certian other band...(clue, clue--hint, hint!)
Btw, when you saw them, you should have introduced yourself and let it slip you're in the business. I'm sure an up and coming band can use all the contacts they can get. And if you let it slip a looney Simon fan introduced you to their music--go right ahead. I fear one member will know who you are talking about!
I could have said "Hi" to Dale (who I've been very briefly chatting to over email) when the lads were two foot in front of me, but they were chatting to friends and/or family, so I stayed put.
(...and also, my own personal 'thing' is not to talk to people pre-gig: they're usually trying to focus on the upcoming show.)
Maybe next time I'll say "Hi"...
I'm trying to get a list of good up-and-coming bands together to put forward to people I know. They don't have to be The Best Thing Ever, just bands I think put on a decent little show with solid tunes under their belt. I'm not asking for anything in return, I already have a Day Job, I just want to do for them what folks did for me when I was their age: just open a few doors...
...and shove them through on the end of my boot, regardless of whether or not they want to go there!!!
