Windows 8.1 Update apparently ditches all the daft tiles ....
Once again, WZOR strikes!
There’s a new set of leaks and screenshots around a recent build of Windows 8.1 Update 1. The new version is being titled 9600.16606.WINBLUES14_GDR_LEAN.140126-20 42 .
Some interesting call outs here.
First, WZOR is reporting that after installation, the user is taken to the Desktop. That is HUGE. It seems like Microsoft has finally waved the white flag with Metro and is giving users back the control and the beloved desktop.
He also seems impressed with the transition back and forth between the desktop and Metro, insinuating that it’s precise and elegant.
He says that a Power Management or Power Control button has been added to the Modern UI (Metro) screen. We already talked about that here. What IS interesting is that on screens less than 8.5 inches wide, the button will not be available.

It is a pain though, updated to Windows 8,1 straight after buying a Windows 8 system which made my recovery discs obsolete due to the ridiculous rule of only being allowed to create one set of recovery discs per system, ok I know there are other ways to create recovey media but, I like discs! Plus having to delete all the leftover crap from Windows 8, Norton in particular! Next update will create the tiresome clean up duties ......
I am too amazed by the amount of garbage inside of the system. Still, I am a little bit more optimistic regarding the upcoming one. More and more I am into this story about Microsoft being successful only with every second Windows edition, like in the case of XP and 7, while on the other hand Vista and 8 should be discarded.
