A six hour drive North East on the A-5 takes our travelling troupe to Spain’s capital, Madrid (definitely NOT a village).
& fiveswinglive is going to feel right at home here as it was once known as the “land of bears”.
We have a few goth links too with the Visigoth basilica & necropolis. Visigoths emerged from the early gothic groups like Bauhaus, Specimen, Alien Sex Fiend &, indeed, The Cure & made the move away from black clothing to more colourful attire & , of course, glow sticks. Hence the prefix “visi” meaning “visible” (another bloke down the pub fact ).
Besides moshing to VNV Nation & Razed In Black, the visigoths were also known for sacking Rome in the 5th century & attempting to put a traffic cone on the emperor’s head. So they were a busy peoples.
Those of you with sharp eyes will also know that Madrid is where Blondie was introduced in The Good, The Bad & The Ugly.
But, as famous as Blondie was, it was Blackbeard's daughter who really put Madrid on the map in a Pirates Of The Caribbean sequel of a sequel of a sequel.
But enough of the valuable history lessons. We need to turn our focus on faith , gongoro73 , fiveswinglive , olivier , curesinking1970 , Gita & pasana who are wending their way to the venue this evening. They’ll have gorged themselves on Oreja a la Plancha & swigged lots of cold San Miguels to keep their strength up for the show. So let’s hope they all have a brilliant night.
Legend has it that the show will be aired on TVE2 so I guess it’s another night fro VPNs
So now that’s left is the colours. Flag or festival? Mmmmm….
