It's basically a goofy app that hides/ changes your IP address. What I don't really get though is how on earth does a website know if I use a vpn or not? So what if my IP is Hungarian. Does that really mean that's where i am? With a vpn I could use a Hungarian IP from any country in the world couldn't I?

Does this have anything to do with the publishing rights and royalties and all this rubbish? I mean these restrictions are dumb. Anyone can pass by them. They might be just formal action because the law says something has to be done.

Possibly because each VPN software, or the popular ones, use a known range of IP address ranges so if your IP is in that range it is flagged as “using a VPN” and blocked? Dime does this I believe
