The day has arrived & the destination is Dublin on the emerald isle. Which is an odd name as emeralds have never been found in Ireland (except in shops).
The city’s Irish name is Baile Átha Cliath but as the English found that too hard to say, they had to think of something fast & Dublin was the first out of the hat after 11 pints of Guinness in O’Donnelly’s pub one fateful summer’s night (allegedly).
The name itself means black/ dark pool so it lends itself to us goffix types quite nicely & should not be muddled up with the other place with the bargain bucket Eiffel Tower & donkey rides.
&, for fact fans, Dublin’s most famous resident was Slats the lion who was the the original lion face of MGM between 1924 & 1928 before Jackie took over on account of his ability to actually roar.
Malahide Castle, which dates back the 12th century, is famous for its thriving gift shop & cricket club, but probably most famous for not being used in Game of Thrones. & our band of troubadours will be performing in the grounds this evening where altendalton , screwjack , faith , ruegi , screwjack , bloodflowers78 , paulwUK , wilgy , maccatori , ohfuchsia , zarec , johnz , @defier74 , spiralcure , gsaintlary & Mr & Mrs slowcure are currently enjoying a barrel of the black stuff with a side of Irish stew.
Let’s hope they all have a terrific show
So what will tickle our eardrums this evening then? A smattering of new songs maybe? Or will it be a regular festival set?
Not long until we find out.
So buckle up, get your word bingo sheets ready & listen out for the likes of shenanigans, lucky charms, Blarney, craic, feck, eejit & dooter.
So, as using the Guinness colours will make the set incredibly hard to read here, let’s have a little fun with flags
As usual, scopes, pics & so on. If you spot ‘em, let’s see ‘em as we try to bring the concert a wee bit closer to you at home.
