Guess I have to intrduce myself
I'm ZeN, from France (Poitiers for those who know )
I'm a musician, member of the band WAITING FOR WORDS (new wave, synthpop, coldpop... name it)
Born in 1971, I was educated to the Cure by my elder sister. My first memory of them is probably Japanese Whispers and later on the video of Caterpillar on a saturday afternoon on French TV.
Really became a fan with "The Head On The Door" and haven't dropped them since then.
For some reason, it took me while to go see them live. First time was june 21st 1990 for a free gig in Paris, Place de la République.
Always missed them for some reasons afterwards, untill Bloodflowers Tour 1999 and haven't miss one Parisian show since then.
I won't please "old fans" by saying I'm not particularly into the Pre "Japanese Whispers" era. Sorry
For the curious ones, my band was asked to participate in a Live Tribute To The Cure here in Poitiers, 2 years ago.
As we did a lot of programming (electronic band ) and work arrangements for it, we thought it was too bad doing it just for one show... we decided to release those songs as a free album "Lovesongs, 12 covers from The Cure".
You can listen and download here : waitingforwords.bandcamp.com/
The idea behind was... "What if those were some Depeche Mode songs?" and recorded with those sounds in mind.
Some will like, some will hate... that's the name of the game.
Anyway, other favorite bands of mine are James, Simple Minds, Tears For Fears, U2, OMD, New Order, Siouxsie & The Banshees, Marillion, Indochine (yeah, I know ), Prince, Bowie and many many many more
