Hello lars & welcome to the forum. To my knowledge there have never been any vinyl recordings. They've all been cassettes, MDs, DATs, digital recorders etc. Vinyl bootlegs will always just be copies that are at least one gen removed from the master (often many more gens) & will never match the quality of the original. Plus you get all the clicks & pops that were never on the source. Moreover, you never know what was used to make the lacquers (by amateurs). These days people just press mp3 files onto modern vinyls which is a complete waste of time. You'd save yourself a lot of time & money & avoid 19th century technology by listening to the master (or at least lowest gen) of the original recording. Today's vinyl is nothing more than a gimmick.
thanks for fast Reply. This is correct for the majority of records I guess, but in my private Office there is only a Vinyl Player … I am more familiar with Smiths Recordings - there are some real good live Bootlegs in existence on Vinyl - therefore I thought there should be some for The Cure also?
I have The Cure Live at Wembley july 1989 - that sounds real good but is very short.
If I look online - I can find many live Vinyls, but I have no clue which ones are soundboard Quality?
you aksed about "Vinyl Only" which makes the answer a bit difficult. most vinyl boots were also released on CD later or at the same time. but if you are really into sbd sourced vinyl boots all 'swingin pig' vinyls are your goal. hope that helps - kisses pillowman

I would also note, as has been said - a lot of recent vinyl pressings are just seeking the bandwagon kinda approach - so if you DO want some good vinyl boots, I would recommend things pre-1990. 90s vinyl is pretty dodgy, but pre-1990 you're getting things that have a greater chance of being cut from a good primary source (as opposed to a CD or MP3 being cut to a cheap LP). I have some early 80s ones that are quite good - as seen in the lists linked above.
The BBC transcription disc of Glastonbury 86, incomplete but sounds amazing.
I haven’t tried looking too hard, but for years I’ve planned to track down a preFM of Glastonbury 86 from an original preFM BBC transcription vinyl, I’ve seen over the years some on eBay but haven’t seen anyone in Cure trading that has a known transfer from original vinyl. Does anybody know of any traders who have or shares of a digital transfer from confirmed genuine original BBC transcription vinyl? (not the bootleg copies of the genuine vinyls).
The slight problem is there are bootleg vinyls made to look exactly like the originals, I think you can tell the difference by the labels, pretty sure the genuine original labels on the vinyl are green while the bootlegs are white, other than that I think they look pretty much the same.
Pretty sure Birmingham 87 has made it’s way into circulation from original BBC transcription disc.
Originals have white labels with green (and a little black) print on the vinyl. AFAIK the sleeves were the same.
Weren't there KTS silvers of the 2 Birmingham releases based on the BBC recordings? I don't know what the lineage would have been they often monkeyed with the audio fidelity, sure there were other pressings but I can't remember any details.. There was a silver Birmingham 85 with blue sleeve/white ink :/

Yeah I just refreshed my memory and edited my post, and then you wrote exactly the same = green on vinyl label is original. Yes I also remember probably some bootlegs like “The European Tour 1985” originated from the original BBC transcription vinyl, but it’s possible before it went to vinyl it was copied to cassette copies and maybe even more vinyl copies, and the bootleg CD’s would be made from the bootleg vinyls. So yeah probably some bootlegs are preFM but possibly a lot of unknown lossy processing done to them. It would be great to have known digital transfer from original green label vinyl for Glastonbury 1986 and Birmingham 1985. I wanted to try and start a search years ago but sometimes life makes things too busy!

You are technically right as vinyl doesn't have the frequency range (roll of starts at 15kHz, down to 40Hz) of an original or CD. Also the length per side limits the sound quality.
Sure but it's all about the cosy feeling handling and playing vinyl (People on the Steve Hofmann board could explain this more lengthy). Also 140 g Vinyl is absolutely sufficient for the pressing quality The days vinyl bootlegs or semi - legal releases are often plagued with micro gaps and digital errors as poor encoded mp3's are used to create this garbage. Where are the days when bootleggers went out themselves for taping? See example below (original TMQ release in my possession)
I still like vinyl, maybe I would be a dedicated bootleger for vinyl
