Am suddenly at a loose end this weekend as rest of family is away so am treating myself to a Sat night out. Which turned into a crash course in understanding Twickets latency to beat the app and ridiculous demand for spares.
It's a bit of a festival of dad rock but there are always plenty of moments at a Wembley charity night and I haven't actually seen the Foo's for 15 years or so.
Not the first band to announce Visa and Logistic issues - seems like tour managers are missing a Brexit or Covid trick.
I wasn't having any luck selling the tickets. I didn't have anyone to go with. As soon as they announce the new date I'll be able to get a refund. The show was pretty much sold out here. Now, I have talked myself into going to Portland for NIN on Wednesday. I've reached out on Echoing the Sound to see if anyone has a spare. If that doesn't work, there are plenty on stubhub. Been looking at hotel/motels & that situation looks doable too. Fingers crossed I can get it together. NIN is also playing Bend, OR a week from today but that's a real long drive. 6 hours each way from Seattle. I don't think I can physically pull that off. Portland is a 2.5 hour drive each from Seattle. It'll hurt bad but think I can do it. The shine went off Placebo when I looked at the setlists. I listened to a recent show & it was ok but I wasn't super wild about it.

US tolerance for long drives to gigs always blows me away - I draw the line at roughly 3hrs, maybe 3.5 hours each way. 5 hours is a def sleep over after gig.

I'll stay in Portland overnight. I can't kamikaze it anymore the shape I'm in. When I saw the Cure in Portland in 2016 I drove home after the nearly 3 hour gig. I couldn't do that now.
PS: I'm pretty happy Placebo postponed the way things are working out. I saw them more than once in the glory days. I think the last time was in a tiny bar here while in Europe they were headling multiple nights in arenas. There was a home video from that tour & they showed a bit of the bar show in it.

Got a ticket for NIN & a hotel 3 miles from the venue. The Placebo refund should just about cover the NIN ticket. I'm excited! + the hotel was very reasonable & has a pool & a hot tub.

Dude, that’s awesome news! Hope you’ll have a blast and a half!
I'm having a tough time deciding whether or not to see this show next Friday night.
I really really like Actors and Leathers, but $58 for a club show?????!!!!!
It's kind of a shock. I mean I know prices don't stay the same forever, but that seems a little excessive, especially when you add in the sh!Tt^, overpriced drinks.
Other major US metropolitan cities on the tour are selling as follows: Detroit: $8 in advance; $12 day o4f Boston: $15 Minneapolis: $15 advance; $20 day o4f Portland: $16-$20 Only Los Angeles is comparably extortionate in the US from what I see.
I wanted to ask a friend to go but at that price, no one will go for a casual show of bands they don't know.

You're right. That does seem steep. Sure it's not a typo? Edit: Just seen the "discount" price for both nights. So it's not a typo. Five bands though. Cold Cave are really good, Kite seem to be okay if you like dark synthy stuff. Confines are cr@p though. (so 4 bands realy)

The Black Keys tomorrow night.
Debating snagging a ticket to see Front 242 Saturday night in Columbus (two hour drive each way). Will likely go. Saw them at the same venue a number of years ago and it was a good place for them. Also, they're saying it's their last U.S. tour.

I draw the line at 3.5 hours each way, as well. Anything longer and I'm staying overnight.
In the U.S., you have to be willing to travel for a show anymore. It's not like the '80s when a band would play every venue in every market over the course of a couple legs of a tour. With the consolidation of promoters that eliminated local promoters and competition, anymore bands will only play one market within that 3 hour window of other markets.

Yeah, when you think of the fact there are five bands, I guess there's not much room for complaint. I think I will probably skip it... I'm not really feeling like going alone. Bah.
