There is also now a problem with container ships arriving months late with shipments of new releases. So I’m sure this is part of the delay and inability to announce a date.
It took over two months past release date for the new Jazz Butcher album to arrive in the states. Also, Beatles Get Back Blu-ray has been pushed to summer 2022 so it can arrive the same day worldwide.

Not heard that. That sounds a bit weird to me. The pressing & printing plants are usually in the same region as the market(s) they serve. A lot of time the mastering for the stampers is done in the region. If there's any shipping delay it'd be more likely the raw material for the manufacturing plants than the finished items wouldn't it? Seems a bit crazy to ship finished discs by sea when the ability to press them "locally" is there. I think many bands are trying to plan ahead now that Adele & Radiohead & Rip Off Store Day etc. have hogged all the pressing capacity. But it does seem to be all over the place
“There will be a smattering of new stuff as we play through. Essentially the strength of the band live is the catalogue and the songs that we’ve got so it would be pretty dumb to play an hour of new music. Although some people would prefer us to do that!”
Yes, they're called cure fans!
I don't know why he wouldn't want to play the majority of the new album every night especially as he claims it's the best songs they've ever done and it's what they've done on previous tours....playing the new stuff!!

They tried & failed in 2004. By the time they played Hurricane no-one knew what the new songs were. So they changed the set to drop a lot of the new songs.
So the second album (Upbeat-Album) that was according to Robert completely finished is actually not (anymore) finished and will maybe not even get released (note the quote "If it gets finished....") and the upcoming Dark Album that was according to Robert completely recorded and just had to be mixed in April is now not anymore completely recorded? I don´t believe this man a single word anymore. Not a single word. Maybe it gets released before the start of the tour, but maybe (and probably) not.
Nice to hear from the Wish-Remaster though.
And has somebody recorded the new stuff from the live gig? Any reactions?
75% of the people at any big Cure show wants the hits. Agree or disagree?
a big/festival show probably yes.i'd rather hear the new stuff though....
If it's just a crowd of festival casual fans then yes they'll want the hits as the singles are the only cure songs they know.
If it's a regular cure show full of dedicated cure fans then no, they don't just want the hits. Especially as the majority of the cure's best songs are album tracks rather than the singles.

Yes it was a mess. Last time they got it right was the 2000 Dream tour bookending every main set with OOTW/WMF and 39/Bloodflowers with most of the album played.
Not wanting to sound cynical but does anyone actually know how long it takes for an album to hit the stores after the recording process is finished. They still have some recording left to do, then there will be mixing, mastering and pressing DCs and vinyl plus all sorts of faffing. It seems to me that even with the best intentions they will struggle to get it out by October. Hopefully, I'm wrong. Either way, it doesn't sound like the new album will feature much in the upcoming tour so I guess it doesn't really matter when it comes out.

That's one of those "How long is a piece of string?" questions. In all honesty, it takes as long as it takes. From what I've read, it seems the pressing capacity is booked (for the first one at least) so they are bound by a deadline at least. I also get the feeling Robert's getting frustrated himself. Bottom line is, if he thinks it's not ready, then it's not ready. It's not like a sausage machine. It's a body of work that shouldn't be like any other & should be treated with care. Anyway, if the capacity is booked & the deadline is met, then it should see the light of day when he say. Otherwise he'll have to concede that capacity to something else & wait all over again. Can't see him being happy with that happening.
“We will be releasing a new album,” Smith told NME. “I get fed up of saying this now! We will be playing from October and the new album will be out before then. We walked on [stage at the Ivors today] to a bit of new music, actually. Hopefully no one recorded it!”
