The tracklist of the album has been clearly revised. From 12 songs (previous 10 songs) to now only 8 songs. I also remember german promoter Karsten Jahnke (long life friend of the band) claiming the album would be 67 minutes long. This is obviously not the case anymore. SOALW will be released on a sinlge LP right? I have been told that means the runtime can´t be longer than 45 minutes.
Remembering back all the interviews: Robert told first he wants to do maybe only 6 songs for the album and all will be doom and gloom and compared it to "Pornography". In a later interview he told he want to put also lighter songs on album as it worked this way on "Disintegration". I reckon therefore songs like "A Fragile Thing" were at some point part of the tracklist. But now with only 8 songs, he is maybe back to the original approach and "A Fragile Thing" is not any longer part of the album?
In an video interview with NME in the beginning of March 2022 (during the BandLab NME Awards), Robert said the album has got a running order and it has got 10 songs. In a later interview with NME (end of May 2022) he said "Essentially it´s a 12 track album"
I know this video and the content creator made a mistake. Just read the comments under the video. He admitted the last thing Robert said was 12 songs. ;-)
I've been saying this since Perry first walked on stage with them in 2022. He was invited to join them on the tour & had nothing to do with the album.
He has nothing to do with the new (studio) album that is clear.
But for you he doesn't count as an official member of the band?
Is he a ghost person or what?
For example : the live 12" NOVEMBRE won't refer him at all ?
He'll probably get credits on Novembre, but he was only ever a guest. Not a ghost. Credits for the album list Reeves as keys as well as guitars. Someone had to play those parts on stage I suppose. All I can tell you is that he was invited to join the tour with them. He is good friends with them & so they asked him. He said yes. But that, I think, is a different conversation. Today is about the album & Alone
So, I've listened to Alone a few times now, out loud and on headphones and I have to say I'm underwhelmed. It was glorious live, this version is missing something, it seems muffled - like Underneath The Stars, superb live but just okay as a studio track. The "first new song in sixteen years" lustre has already faded for me.
It is pretty compressed. I am hoping the blu ray audio will have a lot more air around it. But, as it stands, I think it's utterly glorious. I have seen a lot of Disintegration references as a comparison but I'm not getting that. Sounds sod all like Disintegration. Or Bloodflowers. It's as dark as Faith but with a lot more flesh on the bones
I agree it sounds compressed (but so far we just heard the mp3 right?). Okay maybe the BBC-Version not. But I think the songs is still great in the studio version. There is only one thing that disappoints me. During the end of the live versions Robert took his guitar and was playing a little part that I loved and that reminded me of Disintegration soundwise. In this studio version the part is kind of buried in the mix and not so prominent as in the live versions.

I still count him as a member
i can call friend of the band Boris nowdays
By the way the credits are as follows (according to TC store) :
'SONGS OF A LOST WORLD' was written and arranged by Robert Smith, produced and mixed by Robert Smith & Paul Corkett and performed by The Cure - Robert Smith: Voice / guitar / 6string bass / keyboard, Simon Gallup: Bass, Jason Cooper: Drums / percussion, Roger O'Donnell: Keyboard, Reeves Gabrels: Guitar. The album was recorded at Rockfield Studios in Wales.
Does anybody know this site? It claims to have "Alone" in different file formats (FLAC/WAV/MP3...). Not available though in my country for purchase (probably only US).
i like the studio version of the new song as much as i liked it first time i've listened to it as a live version Well done boys Can't wait to get the full final tracklist and enjoy it somewhere in the dark ...alone.
