"It’s so dark. It’s incredibly intense. And I’ve waited 10 years to do something that means something. It’s going to work really well. I’m not sure how much of it we’ll play this summer at festivals. It’s not really festival music. The songs are like 10 minutes, 12 minutes long. We recorded 19 songs. So I have no idea what to do now. The others are saying, “Triple album!” I’m saying, no let’s not. I’ll pick six or maybe eight songs and do like a single album. But I think it will delight our hardcore fans. And probably really, really infuriate everyone else. At my age, I’m still doom and gloom. When do you want to put this out? We’ll finish it before we start in the summer, and it’ll be mixed through the summer. And then so release date, I don’t know, October? Halloween! Come on!"
I got a feeling the album won't be out before the end of March 2019! So much for finishing the album in February and releasing it before April. I' won't be suprised if it doesn't get released this year or even gets shelved with all the other unreleased albums. It seems to be more about going on about the overplayed disintegration shows rather than concentrating on new material.
Nice idea on making it a single 8 song album like faith or pornography with all killer and no filler. But can we trust Bob to choose the best 6-8 songs from the 19 on his recent tracklisting choice history? I hope it's more of a band choice so we get the best songs of the session on the album.
I'm a bit disappointed, I got a concert ticket this Summer to hear the new album played in full or majority of it rather than the usual old tired setlist they've been playing for years.

Those words make me very nervous. Nowadays choosing the songs to be on the album is almost the most important task. It didn't matter for the first 10 albums when Robert was incapable of writing a bad song. Ok he admits This Twilight Garden should have been on Wish instead of Wendy Time which I agree with but just about every song released upto 1992 was good. So it doesn't matter that say, the exploding boy or a few hours after this aren't on the hotd album as all the 10 head on the door songs are great.
In the 1980's Bob would sit down to write a song and would always lay a golden egg. These days he can still lay a golden egg of a song but is just as likely to drop a steaming turd from between those hairy butt cheeks.
There will probably be some turds amongst these new 19 songs so tracklisting choices become paramount to ensure only the golden eggs make the album.
From Bob's previous tracklisting choices for wms, the cure, 4:13 dream, I'd feel a lot more confident if I knew it was a band/management joint choice on what makes the album cut.

Maybe Robert and George RR Martin can empathize with each other over arousing similar vitriol?
It isn't like you press a magic creativity button and out pops inspired, polished music. Robert has said he hasn't felt inspired to write new material for long stretches. I'm sure he probably could be more prolific if that were the objective, but I'm glad it's not.
In terms of when (and I think it will) new material gets finished and released, there are myriad ways that can get held up that have nothing to do with RS dragging his feet. But even if that were the reason, I still feel strongly that nobody else really has a say in expediency. What if things were finished in terms of production and then RS decided he didn't want to release it? As TC is his band, it's his choice. The material doesn't belong to anyone else, including those who are discouraged at waiting to hear something new from them. TC isn't listed as a publicly traded company on the NYSE with a Board of Directors.
Part of the reason we decided not to buy tickets to any of the festivals this year is that it's pretty easy to predict what the set list at any given show would be like, I think. It certainly never crossed my mind it would be likely to hear new, unreleased album material at them, given the atmosphere. Maybe folks in attendance will get lucky with one or two new songs, as per the 2016 shows, but I wouldn't think it would be more than that.
If the music is truly "not festival appropriate" per RS, I'm thrilled. Besides, if the album is released some time at the end of 2019 / beginning of 2020 and there are also some NA Disintegration shows around Christmas 2020, that's two more chances to see them, because I couldn't imagine they wouldn't do some sort of tour for a new album.

Yeah I already love it and it's not even out yet and if Reeves was a big influence I'll love it even more. You cannot appreciate Reeves playing as much as you can sitting two feet from him watching him play. Like my BF (who adores his playing) says "he takes you on a musical journey" direct quote from my Patrick
I think the new album is already recorded. They must be mixing it?
Well i hope Bob ain't mixing it. On the last album he found that the vocals went up to 11. I'd like to hear the other instruments, especially some bass.

See now I think Robert mixes well. Hmmm. Didn't he mix KM and Bloodflowers? Which soundpretty great to me.
