Reading the latest itw from O'Donnell, seems to me that it's going to be the last Cure album, we better enjoy the forthcoming year!
What Roger says & what Robert says aren't always the same thing though. However, I am inclined to believe this will be the last hurrah whatever either of them say.
Spoiler: nothing at all is actually revealed about a new album!
I think RS is sadistically laughing at all of us. So much has changed since the last album came out, we're all so much older. He's saying, "Patience, patience, as your grey hairs multiply!" There must be some kind of Freudian withholding element to his behavior. There's so much truly bad music coming out all the time. And here's someone who is really good at his job and should have the confidence he's done well. At least this is all based upon the media spin that it's an issue of wanting to make sure it's worthy of release.
Aside from that, I'm really jealous Roger gets to have tea on a dairy farm every day. I'd just ask if I could move in and work the farm. Muck stalls and milk cows (hook them up, really probably).
To English people The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is a bit of a laugh, treating bands like they're hockey teams who've won a tournament. But it's a big deal in the States.
Er, no, please don't think this. To lots of us, it indeed feels like fraternity pledging (notice I didn't say "sorority"?) or music / sports crossover. In the case of inducting TC, maybe this team?
So, about the new album and the latest O'Donnell's comment, was that just a 'bad translation' of his itw indeed, or he has had 'a word of reprimand' from Mr Smith?

I daresay he said something. I think Roger got told off for revealing which hotel they were in once & he went dark suddenly on social media
Probably nothing to do with the new Album. I guess the Gorillaz feat. Robert Smith thing. The message is on his own twitter and not the official The Cure account.
Just can't see them putting a record out - until they can do a massive tour in support of it. I wonder if it might expand into a more diverse Kiss Me style double, with a few pop hits thrown into the "dirge". Either way, its' going to be well worth the wait i'm sure. Hang in there, folks.
At this point, why not just make a huge boxset with everything new and old that's been talked about thrown in there, an assemblage of sorts yes... any takers? Sorry for getting your hopes up btw.
