The Great British Bake-Off, or as it's known on PBS,
The Great British Baking Show
Anyone else watch this? It isn't riveting drama but it is quite charming. Competition by weekly contestant elimination. Kitchen chaos followed by judging. Who will reach the epitome of elegance and who will miss the mark because their finish product is sloppy ... a bit casual.
In addition to the amusement of watching them work in a tent, the background music brings me a whole-lotta happy. Tom Howe wrote a number of simple yet enchanting little snippets. I managed to track down two of my favorites on youtube.
I have watched the previous seasons on PBS. It is a guilty pleasure. I'm kind of ashamed, because it makes me feel like a 90-year-old woman with 40 cats. I am only 80 and have one cat.
I like to watch it because I've loved to bake since I was about 4 years old. I actually have learned a good bit from watching the show.
The contestants have to practice at home so much I can't imagine having the time for that in addition to working, etc. I would also weigh about 1,000 pounds if I baked that much. No willpower.
I am a bit apprehensive about a new season now that the two comedians (whom I love so much I don't know their names) are gone.

Would that make you a catlady ... in-training?
Paul Hollywood is a tool.
Well someone has to tell the cold, hard truth. He does come off as a know-it-all but he seems far less brutal to me than Simon Cowell was on American Idol.
I'll guess the two you were referring to are Sue Perkins (left) and Mel Giedroyc (right).
So they won't be on the show, going forward? Nooooooo!!!!
