-He's fallen in love with the idea of writing new songs
-Last night of @meltdown Curaetion -25 will feature Robert & 4 other people he knows "very well” along with other guests & will draw from songs they don’t play a lot or at all… a little bit more..weird
Robert Smith admits he has form for making promises to encourage himself to get on with projects that may never see the light of day. Robert Smith then goes on to make a load of promises for the next few years!
If only half of this stuff comes through then it should be an exciting 2018-2019.
I'm on the Somme atm so internet is a bit spotty.what did he say about new material?
He's said that he's booked studio time for the band to start on demos & that there will be a new song in the summer. He also mentioned that over the years they've amassed quite a bit of unreleased material & could have released a few instrumental album by now.
I agree with godwina, he was in good form for this one. Seemed to enjoy speaking with the interviewer.
Can I assume he was bs'ing about the Stones? I hope so.
I am reeling from his statement, "in some ways I hate the legacy aspect of the band, because I don't feel it is important." Does he have any idea *how* important this band is to some? At least to this group! I understand if it's not really a regular part of his day-to-day life at this point (it would perhaps be a little sad if he hadn't moved on to have other interests, etc.) but hell yeah, it's important!
