Star Trek Into Darkness did have a lot of "Yeah right" moments. I will admit. but I can overlook that because Ben as Khan was totally hot.. mmm yes...more of that please. And I got a little tingly when he crushed Admiral Marcus' skull with his bare hands.
It really is a bummer that so many people are disappointed with the new movie.. you can't please everyone though.
Well, if you like it, what else does it matter? The majority of SW fans hate the three prequels and I love them, everytime I watch them I like 'em more and more, specially episodes II and III. I couldn't care less about the opinion of all the people who didn't like it. Enjoy the movie tonight!
And in the middle he says " just like original trilogy. That is part of why this movie was so magic. It felt, well, for lack of a better term, right. It f*cking felt like Star Wars again." Oh, man...
So, the prequels are less Star Wars? It's only SW if you repeat the same ships, situations, landscapes, locations, sets and even shots over and over? I don't get it, I feel it's exactly the opposite.
I don't know If Kylo will end beign the best evil character of SW (I really don't care at all). I only know I didn't like it in this movie. I just hope that don't liking the film means I'm a hater.

Not at all. I think there are things in every movie that irk people. Personally, I could quite happily steal one of those walker things & trample every damn ewok to death. ROTJ would have been a whole lot better without them I think that (when it first came about) SW was a hopeful tale of under-dog versus tyrannical dictatorship leading to the downfall of said dictatorship. But Lucas felt he needed to explain the whole Anakin/ Vader story at which point it became a bit more "personal" to him. Hey, it was his story to tell, so his call & he sure made a bucket of money out of it. The detractors of the prequels tend to veer towards the over-inclusion of odd & even clown-like life forms (pod race, senate chamber, Gungans..), battle droids that, for some bizarre reason, were programmed to say "roger roger", an intensely irritating C3P0 who delivered lines like "it's a nightmare" for no other reason that an attempt at "humour" & general bad directing/ acting. Don't even start me on the overt racial stereotyping of the viceroy & his lacky. The story itself was great. A tale of innocence, rebelliousness, forbidden love & a descent into paranoia. I suppose it needed to be told to capture another generation of SW fans. It was just delivered poorly (IMHO) with too many distractions. Add to that, the fact Lucas was changing the originals every 5 minutes & a tidal wave of scorn ensued. I agree that TFA is indeed very similar to ANH. Even you've pointed that out . That (I guess) is why it's often referred to as "feels like a SW movie". Simply because it does. I don't think Lucas ever in his wildest dreams imagined his universe would expand into fan fiction etc. the way it has & is one huge reason for such passionate debate on a bazillion theories & preferences. I think the main message is that nobody is wrong. It is, after all, fantasy. Make of it what you will.
As an aside, I think the prequels would have benefitted greatly had Darth Maul been in at least AOTC. He was a much needed villain in TPM & was on all the hype/ marketing etc. To have him die so soon was a missed opportunity I think.

I think what the writer means by that comment is if the PT was produced in a style more like the OT, specifically with the use of more practical effects and costumes, rather than an almost complete use of CG effects & locations etc, then the PT would've felt more like it was connected directly to the OT.
GL himself said that the scenes and part of the galaxy depicted in the PT was newer looking, cleaner, more centralised (from a galaxy perspective) whereas the OT was set in a dusty desert planet and the Rebles had a fleet cobbled together from leftovers and bits given to them "under the radar" so to speak.
Of course Queen Amidala's space cruiser was going to be shiny and new, and sleek looking. She's the queen of Naboo whereas Rebel X-Wings are going to look old and dirty and barely held together - a contrast to the inside of Imperial ships.. all sleek and shiny and new...

There's a primary school just around the corner from me & they have changed their school bell to play the Star Wars theme. It sounds like it's played on a xylophone or similar. For weeks now I thought it was a neighbour's doorbell or ringtone until a mate of mine, who's son goes to the school, told me it was the school bell.
Well I've watched the blu ray a few times now, each time I expected a "eureka moment" to hit and I'd suddenly think this film had the impact of the first, well, Part IV! Sadly it doesn't happen, it' won't happen. Very disappointed with this, it's more of a remux of Part IV than a new film, there was nothing new - even the technology seemingly stood still. I don't care how successful this may be at the Box Office, it's not likely to see the light of day in our household again.

if you can be bottomed going into detail: what specifically did you not like about the movie? Also, rate your level of fandom? do you read the books and comics? have you watched the OT scores of times? What did you think of the PT? Do you know the story behind say how a lightsaber is constructed and why the sith have red blades etc? The reason I ask this extra info is that I'm curious as to where your opinions come from etc.. if you get my meaning.. Do you come from "a certain point of view"..... heheheheh
