40 years in 2 hours is a tall order huh? I'd love to see a few guest appearances. Frank Bell would be awesome & perhaps Lol too. Also hope that they'll whip out "of the time" instruments as they did with the Trilogy & Reflections shows.
I am a bit worried sometimes... I totally understand band wants to celebrate its 40th birthday, they are right to have fun. But when I read you here wishing for a big reunion with all the past members joining for a song or two... sometimes i feel like it can be... If they do it kind of like 'The Cure and friends' onstage every two songs, it may be fun... But i think It's a bit too much for my liking... Of course, for once, that could be nice, for a change. But beware. It's like for their albums. Over-producing it and it's like a chocolate overdose, it seems nice but you ends up being ill, that's what happened in my opinion with 4:13, the songs are average and are made worst because of overproduction. I don't want The Cure to 'try too hard' and kind of forget about the quality of the songs and do 'events'... What next? Fireworks? Personnally l wouldn't want that 2018 show to turn out as a self indulgent grand mass, or something like Bowie's 50th birthday in NY when Robert joined him onstage... I remember the pictures with all the guests after the show sitting on the sofa with Bowie in the middle... Don't get me wrong, I'm really looking forward to it and why not, I'll enjoy every single surprise that may happen. I'll happily take whatever we're fortunate they give us. As long as it's of quality. I know it's a matter of personnal taste.

@fabien G, I can understand what you're saying. You make some good points. And I agree with what you say about 4:13.
The way I'm looking at it, I'm placing my trust in Robert and Co. Robert's track record in terms of judgment is very good, in my eyes. Ultimately, if they want to have anyone else on stage, that's up to them. 40 years is a pretty grand achievement, and I won't begrudge them doing it their way.
There may have been a few of what I feel are "missteps" in just a couple of albums I'm not fond of (4:13 and self titled), but that's not enough to tarnish how I feel about them in the long run.
I think it will come off really, really well. Above all, I hope *they* have a ton of fun and I'm sure their fans will. Save
Oh, as usual, it's just a matter of personnal taste, and i'm just expressingit my opinion. I never thought they owned anything to their fans, and obviously not to me. They can do what they want, when they want, how they want. They can play whatever setlist they want, invite the guests they want, do what they want... they're a grown up band Still, whatever they do, because i like some things and less others, I hope what they'll do willl suit me
