It’s the last GW before yet another international break (oh joy) so let’s cast our minds back the the events of last weekend.
The early game saw Kane take a couple more steps toward the golden boot as 10 man Spurs survived a late West Ham come back to secure all 3 points & force Southgate to change his mind on which goalkeepers to call up
Burnley & Huddersfield ground out a goalless draw at Turf Moor (hey that rhymes) & Everton accidentally discovered they have a striker in Niasse who netted a brace after the Toffees had gone behind. Maybe Palace should have bought him after all.
On the subject of Palace (sobs) , another record was set with 6 games without scoring. But they showed they weren’t as bad as Watford, only allowing Citeh to gub them by 5 goals.
At St Mary’s, Romulan Locutus scored the only goal in a hard fought game where JoMo got sent off after coming onto the pitch to shout at his players.
Morata & Pedro were the undoing of Stoke & Watford staved off a Swansea fight back to win in the 90th minute.
Liverpool, having been dumped out of the league cup by Leicester in the week, held off the Foxes this time in a goal that saw their “Little Magician” bury a peach of a free kick marking his intent to stay with the reds…….at least until January.
Sunday gave us a trip to the seaside for the match between 2 newly promoted sides at the Amex Stadium. & it was Brighton who took the spoils despite late pressure from Newcastle who had Shelvey hit the post a minute after he came on.
In the final game of the week, Arsenal new boy, Lacazette, scored both goals as the Gunners overcame the Baggies in a match with some severely dubious officiating.
Right. Snark over & onto the real stuff.
Pushing 40 points into the overall lead on 3357 points, the BB&S win the week with 692 points despite taking a 28 point transfer hit.
Planet Dave’s Toluca Lake United take the top spot & so the Yellow Jersey this week with the Big Shout Out going to markfiend’s Kirkstall Wanderers on 78 points.
In the H2H a 21 point win from the BB&S takes them to within 9 points of the IGMs total of 108 points.
& (& I have to say it’s jolly well about time too) the crown goes to……ME
Tables etc in the HL thread here.
Back in the shed, the crown is doing a grand job of catching all the cobwebs from the ceiling & we’ve been indulging in the European games on the big screen telly.
The ban on fancy pitch designs has meant that the morale of our ground staff is at an all time low. So a win for the EIB would do wonders to lift their spirits.
So, with that all said, welcome every one to GW7
