Four & a half hours down the A6 & our merry minstrels reach Lyon, the historic capital of Gaul, but still quite a way from where Asterix lived….but as it was the starting point for Roman roads, chances are he visited or holidayed there.
After a relatively quiet history, the city decided it needed a boost & lent its name to popular brand of ice cream delivered directly to children by creepy blokes in noisy vans.
Bolstered by the sudden popularity, the residents decided they needed an identity & so turned to a local potato dish & rebranded from Lyonans & Lyonites to Lyonnaise which they all agreed was a much more succulent mon!ker.
But enough of the learning you stuff*. On their way to Halle Tony Garnier are blackbird & mini blackbird (Maureen), rhum66 , Fabien G , olivier , fabio71 , faith , siamese & dannistargirl after popping into a nearby bistro for a dollop of silkweaver's brain (yum) & a cold glass of Ninkasi & we wish them all the best for tonight’s show
So get those scoping hats on as we try to get you up to speed with the events as they unfold.
