Opening GW12 was the much anticipated (by the press at least) showdown between Mourinho & Wenger. In a match so full of promise that two Manc fans hid in the bogs overnight to see it, Untidy looked to be on course for all 3 points until Giroud appeared to defy gravity to head a late equaliser for the Gunners keeping them in sight of the top 3. Swansea also came within a minute of their first win in 11, but were denied by a less than convincing Everton who’s neighbours, Liverpool looked a little ragged as they dropped 2 points at Southampton. David Moyes’ boys scraped themselves off the bottom of the table with a 3 goal win. A floodlight failure saw the home fans try to help out with their mobile phone lights & the Black Cats held on for all the points. Alan Pardew might have been on the blower to Moyes to ask to borrow his cardboard box after Yaya Toure’s season debut saw him score a brace to doom the Eagles to 16th. Watford saw off Leicester with the fastest goal of the weekend coming on 33 seconds & Bournemouth returned to winning ways at Stoke. Spurs hosted West Ham & came from behind twice, taking the spoils thanks to a dramatic injury time penalty. Sunday didn’t serve up the goal-fest Chelski delivered last game week as Boro made it hard for their visitors. But a solitary Costa strike was enough to put the Blues at the top of the table for the first time since May last year. Burnley’s form deserted them on Monday, as West Brom effectively put the game to bed in the first half, shooting them up to 9th & giving FPL managers food for thought on striking options.
Now let’s have a looky at how it all went down in FPL land.. 11 points made the difference as the EIB took the week & closed in on the IGM’s overall lead of 4 points while the BB&S trail by a further 290. Looking ever comfy in the is Nikolas Vitus Lagartija ’s Damage Dunfermline as the goes to paulwUK ’s Satan Orient for a solid 69 points. Current standings are….
In the H2H the BB&S took an emphatic 6 point win for the week to bring them within 28 of the leaders, IGM. However, the remains with Nikolas Vitus Lagartija ’s Damage Dunfermline for another week. The table looks like this…
So it’s party time in the shed again & I hear our house air band, Airlock, may play an acoustic set mainly as all the amps won’t fit. I’d recommend no-one try the home made palinka yet though. It’ll take paint off a door at the moment, so it could do with a wee bit longer.
That said, thanks to everyone for stopping by & now to hand the baton back to emilystrange for GW13.
