Great stuff! But why why why does robert sing the melodies differently. .......
I suspect he's trying to manage his voice. Still a couple of weeks of shows to get through with very little rest in between & the last thing he wants is to be completely unable to even make a sound mid way through the next show

I don't mean the pitch or holing notes, I get he may well be doing what he can to keep the quality up, i mean changing the way the melodies are sung.
For example, listen to the length of the "me" in the first verse of Three Imaginary Boys in this video. Where he sings "can you help me?" (0:37ish) the "me" is too short.
He's been doing it on lots of songs all tour, and i think from memory for some years now. I could give more examples but it's after midnight, I'm tired and on my tablet which is cumbersome for finding and pasting links easily. I think I will start a topic about this as it is of grave concern to me, and I'm sure, others.
If you have a lead on Brisbane 21 August 1992 - CT version, for the love of Bob, let me know. Please!

don't mind him doing this at all. quite the opposite, i think that is what makes a concert special, having these little changes for whatever reason.. mood, health, audience or the world in general. for everything else i have the records

I agree. If you listen to past concerts one of the reasons some stand out is because of the improvisations he has done.

I'm more on nausearockpig 's side. Of course, the voice issues steve is pointing out are there, and of course, godwina 's point is also true, little changes are fine and necessary, and Bob has been doing them from the very start. But at the same time, I agree with nausearockpig , there are way too much changes for some years back, and not everyone has to do with voice issues. The shortened sentences are one of them, it happens in almost every song, and it really changes the feeling of the vocals. Sometimes sounds tired, other times uncomplete... Shortened sentences in Other Voices, or Pornography, for example.
He has changed the way of singing the melodies, that's for sure, and from my point of view, most of the cases are less interesting. But he can do whatever he wants or needs, of course. I miss the old way of singing, but I realize is not coming back, so I'm getting used little by little to it. I miss the old rage, but RS is now a little old for that, he can't do it the same old way anymore, regardless his voice condition. Disintegration is the most clear example of it. I think that's the main reason. So I accept it, with little nosthalgia for the old days.

I guess if you sing the same song for 30 years the song will naturally change a bit. Three imaginary boys is a perfect exampleof a good change, it sounds like two different songs, fast and slow version. Both great!
I just think it's Robert getting older, as you have to remember he wrote these songs with a much younger voice. I wouldn't want him to end up like Siouxsie.
I liked it that he sang some songs a bit different. Makes it more surprising, because de studio versions are quit familiar to most of us. Doesn't matter how he sings the songs, as long as it with passion. Just my personal opinion.
